A Canadian buyer checked out 17-Sep-09. PayPal says eCheck estimated completion: 9/28/2009-9/30/2009.

Money withdrawn on Sep. 22, 2009, Sep. 24, 2009 and Sep. 26, 2009 to a PC Financial CAD denominated account. Nothing received as of Sept. 28th.

OTOH money withdrawn on Sep. 26 2009 to M&T Checkin account. As of Sep.28th the account is already showing: DEPOSIT - DETAIL NOT YET AVAILABLE.

PayPal getting slower for Canadians ?

Someone else on the Paypal boards was commenting that she's missing a payment because another arrived first.

So I guess the answer to your question is YES. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Mind you, the US Paypal's > US bank account has been pretty slow all along for me, so maybe they're just bringing Canada's service down to the US level.:-( -------------------------------------------------------------------

I already got the ones on 24th and 26th, but I am still out of $500+ withdrawn on 22nd. I seen the thread you pointed to, moltencore, they say call them after 7 days? Well, this is 7th day, so let's see if it comes tonight.

Nothing came today, so I called PayPal. They did not acknowledge any problems with payments on 22nd and apparently it's completed on their side, so I should check with my bank. I actually did and as expected, bank does not see anything, does not have any bounced payments on my file.

PayPal needs 14 business days before starting the trace. Hm, I will revisit our payment accepting options and see if at least off-eBay sales can be taken away from PayPal. Anyone has a suggestion for e-wallet service similar to PayPal that exists longer than 2 years and did not fold yet ?

If you go back to the thread I linked to, you will see that I discovered this exact same 'problem' happened to eBay UK users at the beginning of September. Somehow, miraculously after 14 days the deposits were all made.

Call Paypal again and ask for a supervisor. Tell the supervisor about the thread in the eBay Paypal forum. As you can see we are not alone. There are many sellers myteriously in the same boat and they do not all have the same bank.
Be a squeaky wheel.
After all, There own PayPal electronic funds transfer confirmation email clearly says:
"This request usually takes 5-7 business days to process but may vary by bank.
We estimate that these funds will be deposited in your bank account by Sep. 29, 2009."

Did you receive your funds by that day? No. right?

Call Paypal again and ask for a supervisor

Maybe we should start calling RCMP and press criminal charges instead of begging PayPal to give us our own money.

I am bit frustrated with PayPal for another reason now - went to pay my eBay fees and had enought on my PayPal balance. PayPal automatically took this from my bank account as deposit.

Of course I immediately withdrawn the same amount back to my account, but although debit withdrawal is immediate, while I will have to wait another week to get money back.

This did not happen before. Always was able to pay fees from balance.

A $1,000 transfer made on 21.09 just posted today, about an hour ago - that's 9 days.

5 subsequent transfers from 22.09 to 26.09 all posted within days; the one from 26.09 posted yesterday.

There is certainly a bug somewhere but the Paypal gal I called yesterday had never heard of this before 🙂

Everybody that was waiting for the transfers from the 21st is now reporting that their transfer have been completed.

The conspiracy theorists are running amok, of course.

All that happened is that a data packet got delayed, that's all. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Why don't you all get a Paypal debit card, This why you can withdraw your funds anytime, the only catch is you can only withdraw $400.00 a day at any ATM but you can spend up to $3000.00 per day with the debit card, I know it's a Hard card to
get but if you email them enough and call them a few times they will send you one, I got my new one last week

@bare_bright. re: Paypal Debit cards
Why should I have to do that?
They can't even deliver on the service we are currently paying for.

@dipmicro
I received my 21st deposit last night. As most others did.

yah, what's a couple hundred bucks or so anyway? it just got a wee bit delayed. --- I'd like to try that with my eBay fees. oh wait, they'd just bill my credit card instead!

PayPal getting slower for Canadians ?

Maybe we will eventually get some answers from PayPal. Check this http://forums.ebay.ca/topic/Paypal/Questions-For-Paypal/600033206

To answer the original question "PayPal getting slower for Canadians ?", NO, except for the problem that affected some Canadian users last week, the ability to withdraw quickly has not changed in years.

Luckily, I was not one of those affected. My withdrawal of the 21st arrived on the 23rd as usual.

I have learned to always initiate my withdrawal before 5:00pm (the cut off time for their outgoing ACH batches).

We all know by now PayPal keeps a withdrawal as "pending" for about 24 hours as a protection measure bofore actually acting on the withdrawal request. It protects us and the system and I fully agree with the concept.

Once PayPal proceeds with the withdrawal (that's when the status is changed from "pending" to "completed" in your PayPal account, your money finds itself in the next batch being transferred by eBay's bankers.

If your money is withdrawn in US$ to your US bank account, it will typically be in your account the next morning for most major banks. I deal with TD-Banknorth (formerly TD-Waterhouse Bank) and my online account always reflects PayPal ACH deposits early in the morning (usually before 7:00am).

If the money is withdrawn in Cdn$ to your Canadian bank account, it takes a bit longer as the money needs to go from PayPal US banker to a Canadian banker for re-distribution to other Canadian banks and financial institutions. Eventually, the Canadian banks will assign the money into your account. I deal with BMO and always find confirmation the PayPal deposit has reached my account the following evening (usually after 6:00 pm).

I read some accounts by some sellers that it regularly takes five to seven days to get there. I just do not understand how it could happen. Initiate your withdrawal before 5:00pm and check your bank account two days later (at night). The money should be there if you bank with one of Canada's Big Five.

PayPal getting slower for Canadians ?

Pierre, thanks for the info. The 5pm is good to know.

Btw. I got my missing payment finally.

We use free PC Financial accounts. It used to be ok and their savings GIC account had good rate. This account has already cost us more than a real bank cheque account would (try TT from PCF account for example, try to get certified cheque fast, etc.).

Now PCF does not even have good GIC rates anymore and takes over 7 days to clear government check so we are both looking around. PCF takes several days to transfer inter-account, while Scotia is instant.
