Paypal Shipping Label Timeline

Does anyone know if there is an expiry on a Paypal shipping label?
For example, I have a buyer who has paid by echeck, which won't clear for about a week normally, and I plan to be away for a little while. So if I package the item, print a shipping label, and have someone take it to the post office to be scanned in about seven days once the echeck clears, will the label still be current?
(Normally I ship items paid by echeck right away if the value is under 100 dollars or so, but this is an expensive item).

Thanks,
AXE

Re: Paypal Shipping Label Timeline

Take the package to the PO to be scanned..... WHY? There is a barcode on any Delivery Confirmed label already and your half of the label has the matching number. The PO clerk is irrelevant.

Just have your friend drop it in the nearest postbox, even if that is the one right outside the PO door.

In any case, what would you do if the echeck bounces? You only have 24 hours to cancel the label once printed and get your money back.

Perhaps, maybe, package the item and take it with you. When you have access to the internet (think public library and internet cafes) check if the echeck has cleared. Then print off the label and drop it in the mailbox.

Axe, When you are doing the label there is a place to change the actual shipping date but I haven't noticed if it is for a day, a week or more.

Through PayPal I believe that you have a choice of 3 or 4 days, but not a week.

Ok, thanks guys,
and femmefan, when you said
"Take the package to the PO to be scanned..... WHY? There is a barcode on any Delivery Confirmed label already and your half of the label has the matching number. The PO clerk is irrelevant."

Every large package with a Paypal generated label that is shipped " CP Expedited or Xpress" has to be scanned upon arrival at my Post Office. (It is four feet long)

I know that small stuff shipped via Small or Light Packets can just be dropped off at any box or post office without having to scan.

I will probably just ship it before I leave anyway to save the hassle. The buyer has great feedback, so I doubt there will be any issues.

Cheers,

This is only a date where Paypal will send an email to the buyer. From shipping page:

Note: Email message to recipient will be sent on this date; date not associated with on-time guarantee, only for email notification.

No I am pretty sure you can enter a "planned drop off date". It's defaulted for the same day but you can change it.

This is from the help page (when you click on the ? next to the date)

Planned Drop-Off Date

The date you plan to drop off your package at any Post Office or street letter box. Once the package is dropped off, an email will automatically be sent to your recipient on the date provided to inform them that the package has been sent.

The only purpose of this date is to sent an email to your customer after you have dropped the package at the PO. Nothing more.
