Paypal for Canadians

Been a while since I posted here; I see there are still some familiar names appearing regularly 🙂

Having a Paypal issue, and wondered if anyone can confirm that they are experiencing the same thing or am I being given a load of b--- by Paypal Support.

My PP account was converted to a Canadian account (along with everyone elses) a couple of years ago. My home address of record is a Canadian address, but for the last several years I have had a US shipping address on file, it is set up as the default shipping address for any purchases I make with my Paypal account.

It seems that all references to my US address have recently been removed from my Paypal profile, my shipping address now defaults to my Canadian home address and I am unable to add any new address that is not in Canada, nor am I able to add a new credit card with a US address. I cannot add a 'Gift Recipient' address that is outside Canada. Basically, as far as Paypal is concerned, I can do business in Canada only ?!!.

Called Paypal support, the rep was unable to add a US address either and transferred me to a supervisor. This supervisor is telling me that this is the way it should be, has always been, and will always be - Canadians cannot add addresses outside Canada.

Anyone else using US shipping addresses, can you please check your Paypal profile?

I still have the Alternate US address in my profile together with my Canadian Home and Business addresses.

Seems like a glitch in your PayPal account. PayPal has been doing some changes lately, I myself experienced some outage related to being able to pay my eBay fees (see few threads back), few other people had this problem - not everyone, and it started working after few days. Give it a week and see if it gets fixed.

That's correct - you can no longer set up a US address on a Canadian Paypal account.

If you just want a US address as a "ship to" address, change your main ebay address ( the shipping one) in Preferences in Site Map.

If you want to access USPS, you'll have to set up a separate Paypal account in the States with a US address ( can be a PO Box) and a US Credit card from a bank physically based in the US.

It's supposed to have something to do with anti-terrorist laws or something. -------------------------------------------------------------------

Dude has it right, add the US address to your eBay profile. After you've done that when you make a payment with PayPal you will have the option to choose any of your eBay addresses as the ship to address.

Nothing has changed on my account still have my 2 US addresses and my one Canadian

You were grandfathered into that situation, though - if you have to add one now, you have to do it the new way.

Don't think the Grandfathered thing is right though - they actually have REMOVED the US address I have been using for the last couple of years. Interestingly, my US bank account - where I transfer my funds - is still there. Makes no sense.

Hi Ann ... good to "see" you again ... Glenda "muminlaw" here (alternate ID - mum is no longer a PS). Anyhow, I find my alternate address is now the same as my primary, which is my Cdn address! I hadn't looked until I saw your post and I rarely come here anymore.

My primary bank and primary currency haven't changed from the US$ but, as you say, there's no longer any reference to a US mailing address! Hmmmm..... one more reason to dislike PayPal and their arrogance and officiousness!!!

I was able to update a US shipping address within paypal, but only by making a transaction on eBay.

ie: in eBay, I could add the address... it then appears in my paypal list

Still have US bank on file too
