Hello

What would you consider a reasonable delivery time?

What does eBay and PayPal say?

Any other sources that can be quoted?


I have a buyer do a BIN at 12:15 AM on April 5, Item Shipped that same morning going to AB. Product was supposes to be there April 12 (as per CPC) and as of the 14 hasn't arrived. Shipped via Expedited Parcel, using the EST, Post office never scans the manifest so there's never a tracking info until parcel is delivered, the good news is that so far CPC has not lost any.

Buyer emailed me saying that if the parcel was not going to arrive this week, they want to Cancel their order...

The manifest is dated and signed by the clerk. That should be good enough for late-delivery claims.

I don't know if the clerk was doing something wrong. It has happened on 3 different outlets. They tried to scan the barcodes, but their system wouldn't take it. I can't remember if there were any Canadian ones. I wanted them scanned because US Expedited, and most Canadian shipments don't show up in CP's tracking until after delivery.

I personally have opened a complaint with Canada Post over their delivery times. This time, I have a written declaration from no less than 2 of my customers saying they love my service, but can't buy from me anymore because the packages take too long to get to them.



Here is the response I received from Canada Post (highlights put in by me):



Hello,



Thank you for writing to Canada Post.



Our "air small-pack" service does not provide guaranteed delivery standards.
It does however offer a delivery expectation of anywhere from 4-10 business days for U.S.A. and International destinations.



Remember that the "small pack" service is not an expeditious service but usually a good comprise offering reasonable delivery standards and affordable price.



Another factor you should take into consideration is the fact that once we have delivered an item to a foreign country, it is beyond our control. We necessarily rely of the international destinations postal service to deliver this item.

My response? I stated that it cannot be the countries it is being delivered to since when my customers buy from the USA, the package gets there a lot quicker. I also asked for a SOLUTION, not an excuse. They are using the terms "no guaranteed delivery standards" as a huge shield in defence of their poor handling of the mail.



Any comments? Do any other PowerSellers want to jump on board with this for Small Packets? 🙂

I have heard that USPS will deliver domestic mail before they will deliver foreign mail. That means if there is a backlog of US domestic mail, then our stuff takes a back seat until the backlog is cleared.

My experience is that it typically is either USPS and/or US customs that causes the delay and not CP.

Most of my small packet air has been taking 10-14 days to the US. I've been shipping small packet air regularly to the UK and Australia as well, and they've been taking just 7 days. Expedited US has been horrible for me...sometimes over a month but typically around 3 weeks.

Maybe it's just the volume that USPS handles? Malcolm is probably correct in saying that their domestic mail gets priority. Their Priority mail service is relatively inexpensive and carries a 2-3 day delivery guarantee within the 48 states, so I can see both the volume and the priority given there. Even their regular Parcel Post is just 4-5 days too.

I get packages delievered to the UK (Air Small Packet) sometimes as quick as 3 working days. The delay is in US Cuatoms, and the transition from CP to USPS.

I have sent a couple of items via Express Post recently, one yesterday afternoon.

I checked tracking this morning and the item cleared Customs and was in USPS' hands as of 3:10am

The earlier one did pretty much the same thing.

The sad part is that the Late Issues for me are in the Expedited Parcel within Canada (And it cost me more, especially now that they cut my discount level)
