Return shipping from Czech Rebublic

A buyer purchased a game from me that was the wrong region code for his Xbox 360 system.

My ad had the proper information listed. The buyer is at fault for not buying within his proper region code.

Buyer has initiated a return based upon this reason, "It's defective or doesn't work"

Am I seriously on the hook for return shipping?

The buyers "reason" for return is not true. He made the mistake.

Is there no recourse on the return shipping situation on this?

I of course will fully return the original item/shipping costs once received back.

Czech postal rate for a Small Packet (same size limitations as at Canada Post but considered lettermail as in every country except Canada) weighing up to 500 g sent Registered Airmail (includes Certificate of Posting and of Delivery) to Canada is 200 Czech koruna or under $10 Canadian.

Speaking of 200 Koruna, in summer 1989 I took a juvie job at city services and earned 6 Koruna per hour and then bought inexpensive wristwatch for 330. People earned around 1500-2000 then, milk and gas were 2/liter, 1kg bread was 6, liter of wine was 10-20 and self-built 1500 sqft house came to 200-300k in construction materials and handyman wages. It would be fair to say pre-1989 Koruna was approx today's CAD $0.50. May seem expensive times but most people paid very little rent as living was state provided, 20y bank loans had zero interest, healthcare was 100% free and household energy bill was around 50 Koruna per month, so there was generally money left for projects and sports and there were literally no poor people 🙂

Back to topic, it is intentional or unintentional abuse of NAD. Buyer may simply not know there is regions with DVDs and he may not even speak English.

Czechs and Slovaks are usually very fair, so if you choose to refund in full, just ask the buyer to send it back the most economical way. Sometimes Ebay is the least reasonable party in the transaction and you need to talk to buyer directly.

Would using Google Translate to send a message work well?

Sometimes the translations are -- interesting.

Dipmicro's reminiscences of times past are all very interesting but today the czech koruna is worth just a Canadian nickel so I fail to see Dip's point.

My post was merely a response to Mr E's mistaken belief that returning the DVD by a tracked service would be horrendously expensive. Fortunately, most of the peoples of the rest of the world are not exposed to the rip-off rates of Canada Post.
