Seems to be a lot of these listed from all over the world. Canada 2015 Grey Wolf $2 Silver Coins

Hi,

Can anyone shed a little light on this subject.  I have seen listing for this 2015 Canada Silver $2 Grey Wolf coin, both regular silver  and coloured.  The coloured ones are in full colour or a solid colour, not the normal colour of silver.  It seems the latter type are coming in from Europe with a number of the full coloured ones listed in the US as well as Canada.

My question is, are these real RCM coins or they China knockoffs?

I would appreciate any info.

I can color my own 2015 Canada $2 Grey Wolf with my daughter's felt pens.
The only difference is they do a better job.
I might color some of my other coins and relist them as eBay exclusives.

Why would anybody knowingly buy one of these?
Colored has never been available from the RCM or APMEX, and is a scam.

Did you check out the www.mint.ca website (search on wolf and look at the current and archived results). The Royal Canadian Mint has regular, silver, and coloured coins featuring a wolf.  But no coloured $2 coin with wolf. Those are higher value coins.

I'm not an expert and this is just my opinion but I would guess that the coins are made by RCM and sold to companies like Apmex in the U.S. Other private companies then purchased the silver coins in bulk and colored them.

So my 'guess' would be that the silver coins are legitimate but the coloring was not done by the mint and does not increase the value.

Again..this is all just my opinion.

You are correct in your opinion. Well sorta -----. I looked these up on a site from China and yes, these knockoffs are there. eBay has a listing from Poland with knockoffs of this coloured coin. The lister shows a COA listing number 34/100 and states that it is silver. No mention of RCM Coin. Well the Site from China has a min. buy of 100. For all to know ---- RCM minted 300,000 of these $2 Silver Coins. So as you can see, there are genuine coins of this type that have been coloured by an outside source, but not the RCM. If you are purchasing one of these coloured coins and you want the RCM version, watch for listings that do not include a RCM issued COA.

It's my understanding that the uncolored BU 2015 Canada $2 Grey Wolf 3/4 oz .999 pure Silver bullion coin is a RCM / APMEX exclusive release.

Not listed on RCM site, but on APMEX. Product ID 79787

Any coloring would be after the fact.
I have seen numerous different colorings of these coins.
Some on 'reputable' sites.

Yes,

Some of these coloured coins are RCM issued.  These have COA's.  APMEX is distributing the Non coloured coins and buyers are purchasing these in rolls and having them coloured from a second party.  The coin is legit, just not the colouring.  I found it odd to see this coin from a Polish seller and offering some sort of "homemade" numbered COA numbered up to 100, which coincidentally matches the minimum buy from a site in China that produces these and many other copies of collector coins.

My advise is just be careful when buying these and know what you are purchasing.
