Seller trapping victims with 3000$ S/H fees on 70$ jacket eBay does nothing

eBay again dead at the switch,

An USA seller is selling jackets for $70 and tacking on 3000$ s/h cost.

Seller denies doing this and even denies they are selling the jackets.

Re: Seller trapping victims with 3000$ S/H fees on 70$ jacket eBay does nothing

The other day I saw that a seller from the US  listed shipping at $3.90 to the States and $480 to Canada.

I wrote and asked her if her shipping cost was correct as Canada wasn't that far away!  She told me she had forgotten to put in the decimal and thanked me for pointing it out. We both had a chuckle.

The odds of anyone actually paying are extremely remote.

Most people would take the Non Paying Bidder strike instead.

Plus maybe people shouldn't bid or buy until they find out the shipping cost?

"Seller trapping victims with 3000$ S/H fees on 70$ jacket "

No need to exaggerate. If a buyer is foolish enough to bid on an item with excessive shipping, it's nobody's fault but theirs.

"eBay does nothing"

Have you reported it to ebay or did you just started harassing the seller? Ebay will do nothing unless it is reported.

Sellers are charged a fee on their total sales these days which includes the shipping. So if the seller has $3,000 shipping, they will pay final value fees based on the $3,070 sale.

Non paying buyers deserve unpaid item strikes.

If I post the item number the mods will ban me.

The seller did sell one jacket already.

Who gets the money, eBay certainly gets a slice. Very odd.

If you wish to offer an answer avoid the Ad hominem attacks, it does nothing to help honest people with business transactions and it makes you look like a retard libertarian. Bullies be gone

Re: Seller trapping victims with 3000$ S/H fees on 70$ jacket eBay does nothing

In this case the seller is denying they are charging that amount, despite being shown the evidence. In fact the seller is denying they are even selling the jacket. So it's no mistake.

Seller has sold one jacket already, not retracted nor cancelled.

What could be the motive of such a sale?

Speculating:

money laundering?

bribing eBay via fees?

Seller also sent me a threatening e-mail

that they were forwarding my message to "our corporate attorney along with the Oregon Attorney Generals office for a full review."

You can catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.

One poster politely pointed out a possible error in shipping fees and got a grateful polite response.

Another poster, perhaps screaming fraud, retard, libertarian*, gets an equally rude reply.

The rude seller will get a rude shock when he is faced with an eBay invoice for FVF on $3,070.00.  Which will be about $276.30 give or take.

Re: Seller trapping victims with 3000$ S/H fees on 70$ jacket eBay does nothing

It could be a way to bribe eBay for some favor, it certainly would go below the radar. You can't just give eBay money for favors (like protection money to protect shill accounts and top seller rating). If you take in consideration motives and being left with no options, what remains is possible (insert Sherlock Holmes quote here). The money could come from a shill account.

I look forward to the the unhelpful votes
