Sellers!! We have no recourse for bad buyers??

Why do buyers have the upper hand on ebay? I had 2 customers this week with unpaid items!

But they continued to bid and pay for items as mine remain unpaid?

I tried to leave negative feedback and it was taken down?

You only got two unpaid items this week? You're lucky.

All you can really do is file an unpaid paid item dispute and get your fees back. Sellers can not leave negative feedback. If you leave a positive feedback with a negative comment, it will get removed. Nothing new here

Ebay made recent changes and if a buyer doesn't pay right away the item remains listed when on a BIN.

It was supposed to put pressure on buyers to pay right away, but now that it's in action I have to wonder if it has the opposite effect.

It seems to me that this takes the pressure off to pay right away............ and might not be putting pressure on as anticipated.

After all............ in the buyer's view: if the item remains listed then it really shouldn't matter to the seller if the buyer pays later rather than sooner.

A buyer who pays later is no longer inconveniencing the seller.

As a buyer, that's the way I see it.

There are a myriad of problems for buyers here.  Shopping on ebay can be mine field for buyers, and the fact that sellers can no longer NFB doesn't make it much easier.

It just reduces the friction to some degree.

When I have a buyer who doesn't pay right away I usually send a bill about 10 days later.

Then I stay in touch with the buyer in a very friendly way.

I have very very few nonpaying bidders as a result, but I do have some who take a month and even longer to pay.

However, my items are more expensive and warrant that kind of attention.

Also, when a buyer of mine does not pay it's not because of shipping costs.

When a buyer doesn't pay because shipping is higher than the least possible amount then that's another story.

Nothing P____es buyers off more than padded shipping costs!

If you don't have the comfort level that *im-still-here has with waiting to be paid, then your best recourse is to file an unpaid item dispute.  My impression is that if a buyer simply 'vanishes' for days after purchasing an item, without contacting me, he/she probably doesn't intend to pay.  However, if the buyer emails me with a polite request to delay payment for a few more days, I almost always agree.

Cancelling the transation is risky, as you are relying on the good faith of the buyer to agree to the cancellation, and he/she will still be able to leave FB.  In my view there's no sense in delaying filing an unpaid item dispute beyond a week if the buyer has made no attempt whatsoever at contact.  Don't forget -- the UID still gives the buyer an opportunity to pay for the item and conclude the transaction, i.e., if the buyer pays, he/she will be able to leave FB.  So you need to remain courteous and professional during the process.

You never know how many strikes the buyer may already have -- yours may be the one that prevents a problem eBayer from causing further trouble.

Once the UID process is concluded, and the buyer has left FB (or the time limit for FB has expired), you can consider blocking him from purchasing from you again.
