What is the cheapest way to obtain a tracking # for small packets? CP indicates that there is no tracking # but then how can we trace those parcels? I feel we need to keep the costs of shipping at a minimum so that buyers will shop with us but we also need to be able provide them with some insight as to where their "missing" parcel has gone to.

Just wanted to get your opinions as to the best shipping method.

There's no tracking for small packet. It is insured up th $100, however - on an honour system, presumably.
To claim you must have your original mailing receipt.

No tracking to the US or International.....without spending a whole lot of dough for shipping...and on small inexpensive items it doesn't make economic sense...nor can you be competative with US sellers charging those kinds of prices for shipping. In nearly 4000 items mailed only 5 have gone completely missing....those I had to refund out of pocket because I couldn't prove I mailed them and no insurance was available on small package items until very recently. That's a pretty small percentage.

I use Small Packet for almost everything, both International and to the US (otherwise I use Express, and only rarely Expedited).

I love Small Packet and recommend it highly.
Parcels usually arrive in approx. a week, and I've never had one go missing (and I've mailed 2000 + items, 2 ID's).

I've had about 20 small packages go missing, arrive emptied and damaged in transit and have yet to be awarded any claims from Canada Post. I now have a disclaimer in my listings that nothing gets replaced unless they pay an extra $3 for expedited service.

I'm hoping the new small packets forms that have a carbon copy will help with future small packet claims.

I have also started shipping from the US where delivery confirmation costs 45 cents - how civilized!

I wish that I could cross the border and ship parcels within the US but I'm no where near the border so that's not an option.

USPS also provides free supplies on their website. Things are surely different over there
