'Shipping charges' on summary page often don't match shipping charges on item.

Frequently when I look at my eBay summary page I am surprised to see shipping charges for items I selected for 'free shipping'.  When I switch to the individual 'item page' the shipping charges show the 'free shipping' that I expected.  Still it is un-nerving when you don't know which charges are correct.

Could this be a site issue?  Is eBay working to resolve the issue?

As far as I know, it's a chronic bug. If a seller has selected FREE DOMESTIC shipping, it erroneously shows as FREE across the board in search results. Sellers don't like it, either. It sets expectations for buyers that cannot possibly be met. eBay is aware of it but it's been an outstanding error for a LONG time. I too wish it would be resolved. Perhaps if you called too.

Given the long history of the problem, it is sensible to double check shipping costs by clicking on the Shipping and Handling tab and checking that the actual shipping to CANADA.

And watch out for the Global Shipping Program.

If your item is over $20 CDN (about $18 USD) you may be required to pay duty and taxes. The GSP will charge these upfront, instead of on your doorstep. Unlike Canada Post and the CBSA, commericial shippers like PitneyBowes/GSP, UPS, FedEx and the like must charge these.
