General question, I am pretty sure that the sale of sleep apnea machines is not allowed, but what about separate pieces of said machine? For parts?

Parts, masks and supplies (filters, etc...) are not allowed.
I wish they were as I would have saved a lot of money over the years buying them on eBay

Pierre, I buy my masks on eBay all the time. The local supplier wanted to charge me $300 and I bought it on eBay for $53 USA

I have purchased them on eBay too for big savings.

A search for "resperonics cpap mask" yields lots of results:

Just because you see something for sale does not mean it is allowed. eBay tries to remove listings that violate their policies as soon as possible, but it is possible to see something that violates their policies although it is not common.

Wow, are they really not allowed? I have been selling off my hubby's unused filters off and on as he collects (and does not use :)) them - they go for good $$. That really, really is surprising.

Here is the link from the US community: https://community.ebay.com/t5/Health-Beauty/CPAP-MASKS-NOW-PROHIBITED-FROM-BEING-OLD-ON-EBAY/m-p/152....

No but it means that I can purchase them if I want to and that is all that matters to me.

Of course you can purchase the item if you want to, but YOU ARE STILL BREAKING eBay'S RULES by doing that.
You do know that eBay will remove sold listings from the site too, right?

I wonder if the sale of masks/machines is prohibited for the same reasons that they stopped allowing used cloth diapers --- the sanitation factor. Or maybe for liability reasons (chance of faulty machine or mask) since sleep apnea is a very serious medical condition.
That would make a bit of sense. However, I do not see any policies regarding other products such as filters, cpap cleaning solution, etc?

If I as a buyer, go to Ebay's site and see Ebay's offering of an item and purchase it, how would this be breaking a rule??
It is presented to me to be up for offer and sale by Ebay - they are not going to see this as breaking a rule on the buyer's part - the sellers maybe, but never the buyer.
If you are talking about moral code, as in -I am a seller but am buying a product I know to be prohibited-, well then shame on me , I purchased a .....*gasp* cpap product for the sake of good health. Tsk tsk, shameful

Exactly...and paypal protection still applies, not that I ever needed it. I have purchased brand new name brand cpap supplies several times at far less than a quarter of the cost locally.

Alex, once again you got it wrong.
While the seller may not be following eBay's policies, the buyer does nothing wrong.
It is like the payment policy. eBay wants sellers to offer online payment only. There is nothing to prevent a buyer to pay by personal cheque or money order or cash if the seller agrees to it.
Most rules are made for sellers to comply with. Buyers are free to do as they see fit.

OFF TOPIC but ------
It seems this mysterious new poster to eBay.ca boards (2 weeks in ) Xeposter (or Alex, if you will), has been deleting his abrasiive posts, which makes smart sense for him to do so (to me) , as he is a US seller (or just buyer?) and could not possibly understand the plight of a Canadian seller conforming to fit under a US company's changing rules and so in turn could not comment to offer accurate advice.
I sometimes post on the .com boards, but have always noticed quite a difference between the support on the .ca and .com boards -- no one here on .ca flames or shames people for reaching out for help and always has sound and supportive advice here, period. On the .com boards, it can get quite scary.
I would like to keep it this way, this place is my soft pillow to come back and fall on when the .com boards get too rough
We do welcome you of course Alex, but if you continue to post here please keep this in mind that Ebay is a USA run company that welcomes sellers from all over the globe, and these .ca boards are specifically for Canadian sellers who are trying to conform to changing polices that have different issues than .com sellers.
Thanks very much.

There are a lot of medical supplies available on eBay for a fraction of what it would cost us to purchase in Canada.
Not only do I buy CPAP masks, etc., I bought an Air Cast Boot for $48, versus $175
A walker and wheel chair for what it would have cost me to rent for a month

Right now there is a sleep apnea machine up for auction. It is brand new. I have one like it and it was $1,000.
