Small Packet Air CAN to USA will it be returned if Buyer moved?

I sent a Small Packet Air item mid DEC, Buyer claimed last week still hasn't arrived. That is a first for me, I said I would refund in Full today if still not received. (18th Bus day since sent) Buyer just contacts me this morning and adds "Oh, I have had 3 purchases returned to sender and not forwarded to my new address"...

I sent to Paypal Confirmed address and have $100 INS on it after 45 day mark end of January. But if Canadapost tracks it internally and sees it as delivered to that address I'm then screwed over for INS true?

Have any Canadian Sellers had small packet air parcels returned to them from USA? I'm feeling right now that the Buyer is at fault somewhat for not changing Paypal confirmed address, so should I still give full refund today or wait until I file not received end of January now that Buyer has finally admitted he moved and having other delivery issues?

Small Packet services do not have any tracking at all, even for Canada Post. If it was lost internally somehow and found, it would just be put back in the mail system with no report.

So your insurance claim will be processed after the time limit Canad Post has.  If you refund the buyer today, ask the buyer to please repay if it arrives.  You can cancel your insurance claim with Canada post if the buyer receives the item and repays you.

If the item is returned to you, you will be charged for the return postage by Canada Post. Sometimes they do not charge from what I read in these forums.

I had a Light Packet package returned to me and I had to pay the original postage back to get the item. It was inconvenient as I had to scramble for $5 in change to pay at the door. This took about 3 weeks from the time it was sent and returned.

Now if the buyer wants the item resent, who pays for the postage to the buyer and the return postage to you? Will the buyer repay the lost postage?  This gets tough because if you do not reach an agreement, then the buyer might leave negative feedback and low DSRs.

It is the buyers fault for not providing a correct shipping address from the beginning. But the way eBay/PayPal handles issues like this might be a problem for you.

From your answer it sounds like I should still get my Insurance claim through Canadapost? It seems unlikely Item will be returned to me using Small Packet Air? I know there is no tracking on small packet air. When I called Canadapost they mentioned internally tracking with investigation if it was not received after 45 day time had passed since shipped. It makes little sense to me with a no tracking item but I'm just wanting this to end smooth but fair. Refund Buyer today... I think I will do that and hope for Canadapost claim end of month to reimburse me unless parcel turns up in the mean time.

Thanks Pocomocomputing for last reply, I think I will refund in Full today like I told Buyer last week I would (Monday) Buyer knows he is at fault to some degree probably why he hasn't been too pushy yet. 😉 It is a loss for me $45 😞 if Canadapost doesn't reimburse my Insurance claim but I will remain hopeful! And also hope Buyer will be honest and repay item amount minus shipping if he does receive it.

If it were me I wouldn't refund yet but I would assure the buyer I would do so if he hasn't received the item by the end of January.

Since mailing, there's been the Christmas period, there are address problems, there could be several reasons for delivery delays.

If the package can't be delivered I'm sure it will be returned to you. If it is lost, I'm sure Canada Post will reimburse you.
