Taxpayers on the hook for Trudeaus childcare expensives

Makes perfect sense since his election platform pledged to take away family income splitting as well as child care UCCB payments.

And replace it with what, hasn't said.

In these times, Mr. Harper's top priority is to give wealthy families like his and mine $2,000," Trudeau said in reference to the Conservatives' income-splitting tax credit. "Let me tell you something: We don't need it. And Canada can't afford it."

Trudeau is also entitled to collect annual UCCB payments of about $3,400 for his three children.

"We were nearly free of deficit "

???

Go back in time.  We were totally free of deficit before Harper arrived.  We were running a surplus, year after year.  Then Harper arrived and took $12 billion away from the federal coffers (GST reduction) just before the recession hit.  Then we went into serious deficits for seven years.  Deficits continued long after the recession was over.  The problem was simple: over $12 billion in revenue was missing.

Conservatives = bad fiscal management (while blaming others)

Yes, I do remember the 2008 recession.

So what you're saying is that approx. 25% of Canada's total accumulated debt since Confederation was because of the 2008 recession? There was no wasteful spending or ill-advised tax cuts/policies that contributed to that?

I didn't say that, you just did though.Smiley Wink

Stop digging up bones Pierre, it is what it is today and looks like it will be getting worse with the Liberals.

We are both in our 70's and retired. The claim to "make ends meet" somehow lacks credibility with your annual income nearing $90,000.

It's OK to work in retirement to earn more money to enjoy a luxury life or help family members or pay for the education of grandchildren.  But let's be honest, it has nothing to do with " in order to make ends meetSmiley Happy

As far as digging up bones, it may be best for you to stop comparing actions of the new government to the lost decade and bad fiscal administration under Harper.  It is a losing proposition.

It is time to accept that about 70% of Canadians voted the conservatives out of Parliament, just like the majority of Canadians across the country removed "conservatives" from provincial power everywhere from coast to coast to coast.

Of course the trend will change.  People get tired and want change --- eventually.

With a bit of luck we may both still be around when the changes come ten to fifteen years from now.  Or not.
