What do I do here?

I sold an item, then sent it to the buyer, but it was returned due to being not picked up at the post office. It was sent with tracking and the customer had paid on time. I have messaged the buyer and have had no response.

If you can't contact the buyer, there's not much you can do but wait. How long has it been since the buyer paid for the item? After 45 days, he can no longer open an item not received dispute. If he does, you can add the tracking number to the dispute showing that the buyer never picked the item up at his local post office. If you don't hear from the buyer within a couple of weeks or so, you can send him a refund to the PayPal address he used when paying for the item. Unfortunately you will not get a refund of your final value fees.

If you do end up contacting him again and he still wants the item, you can tell him that he will have to pay to have it re-shipped.

Hi bullet2bullet

It is not your responsibility to be chasing down the buyer but if you do choose then it would be called "Going beyond the call of duty", you could pull the buyer contact information from ebay and give them a ring.

Also you can not keep the item and the money and if unable to contact then do a Scifan57 has suggested and refund by using the "Refund" link that is located in the "Details" of the PP (PayPal) transaction at the bottom of the page.

Since you did ship the item you don't have to refund the shipping cost ONLY the price of the item.
