What is going on with Canada Post?

I have 14 parcels lost in last 45 days, all of them Commercial Expedited USA. Does anybody has the same problem with this type of service?

if tracking was more affordable i would do it for all items, cause it has gotten bad as of late, both in us and canada

Seems CanPost quetly removed Commercial Expedited from their shipping options.
I just checked the canada Post Desk top program and the Commercial Expedited is still there. Having said that I am having the same problems.
Canada Post has told me that the supplier they were using could not deliver the packages to USPS so they have Contracted Purolator USA to do this service. Not a very clear answer, but thats what I got. Sounds like a customs thing to me. Maybe Canada Post did not pay their customs broker.

Hello
I would like to ask what is going on with the mail period. I have sent many packages (mail) to the US from Canada. It seems every day I have messages asking where their package is? I have refunded 50.00 to one buyer and it looks like I will have to refund another.Why is it that I have to fear the mail system to the point of not wanting to continue with this little venture.

sky940colour it can take up to 45 days before package clears customs, so u have to tell the buyer to hold on. some times longer depending on where it is going. other then that, yes a lot of packages r geting lost or misplaced as of late, it is getting rediculous. but its not just to US, northern ontario and parts of quebec are getting just as bad of late

well here's an update... have filed a pile of claims with canadaPost and not one claim has been apid yet they have started sending me letters back requesting I send them how much the items cost me as I'm selling them on ebay and it doesn't matter what my coverage is they will only pay what I paid for the item. ok what are they doing so I refund customer to make sure I do not get a negitive...which by the way is starting to happen with this problem so customer x pays 50.00 plus shipping 15.00
I refund 65.00 and canadapost will only refund me what the item cost me>?

what are they doing I wish someone from canadapost would have an answer as this problem seeems not to be going away for me at least.

any other advice other then use UPS?

I am told that you must send a record of ebay invoices to show what exactly has been lost in the mail. I have not sent in one claim yet but I think that CP should pay for shipping costs? Maybe an ombudsman has to be notified (CP) I have lost money about 50.00 because my customer did not pay for insurance and they say they did not get it. Now most of my customers are charged 5.95 (small packet) UPS charges a bundle and they say on their site that CP has preference in customs over UPS.
What do we do???? Go out of business over this?? Buyers are upset!!!!!

I have got refund for about 15 parcels out of 30 so far. They pay shipping cost + replacement cost on item. Yes, you loose profit (obviously) + shipping materials cost + e-bay fees and so on.

I'm personally shifted to UPS and Xpost where possible. So far Xpost was 100% good. Small pakets have low loss rate too.

The main problem that most buers want refund within 30-days, while CanPot refund system takes 60 days. If buyer don't cooperate (i,e, confirm non-reciept) claim is rejected.

Isn't UPS more expensive than Canada Post? I have items that sell for 10.00 and if I charge anymore than 3.75 S & H people will stop buying from me?? If anyone can tell me that UPS is cheaper GOODBYE CANADA POST!!!!!!
Although I read on UPS site that they have been complaining because US customs are pushing CP mail through faster than UPS.
I am still confused

Unfortunatly UPS would not be cheaper for you. Sellers selling volume of heavy/bulky items can experience some significant savings after negotiating a contract with UPS but sellers of smaller items are stuck with CP. Your only alternative is if you live near the U.S. border you can ship via the U.S. Postal Service.

Thank you.
I like the thoughts of shipping via the US Postal service however driving across may be an issue.My cousin and I tossed an idea around of driving to Buffalo and shipping from Buffalo. US Border Customs may not like this idea. Don't get me wrong I don't want to put CP down I think US may be holding packages for clearance and I can understand the delays however WHAT about my beautiful customers???????????

Actually, Joy, I think that a comprehensive how-to post on taking packages across the border to USPS would be very helpful for lots of us thinking about making the drive.

Nice (or not nice?) to hear I am not the only one whose packages are super slow in arriving or don't arrive at all. Canada Post SUCKS, period. I think I am going to buy a donkey and start my own mail service....anything has got to be more reliable than Canada Post.

I agree BUT is US customs holding on to them or what??? Does anyone know????? I think CP stinks too and the charges are outrageous I wish an alternate shipper would come in and put them straight out of business. Anyone out there interested in opening up a mail business TEE HEE

Wow. I'm on-hold with Canada Post claims department for 2 hours and still can't get trough to place claim on yet another lost package to US.

This company is disfunctional on so many levels.
