My business seems to have picked up some but oddly enough I am getting more Canadian buyers than ever before. The bulk of my buyers have always been from the US - don't know why I am selling more to Cdn. buyers this month - maybe Mother's Day.

my hubby is getting a little irritated with me....spending lots of money to sell and not getting much in return 😉 i won't know till week's end how well i did, but i have a feeling the ebay is just starting to come out of its slump...hopefully..! 🙂

Same here, I have noticed that my USA and Int'nal sales have lowered while my Canadian sales have increased 😮

Not too bad, now less things get lost going out of Canada and it is good to sell to fellow Canadians :-D

Look at the strength of the Canadian dollar this past week... it was 91 cents yesterday from the Bank of Canada website.

Strong Canadian dollar=poor US sales.

With that being said, Canadian sales were real nice this week.

The rise in the Canadian Dollar or should I say the FALL of the U.S. Dollar is a big factor. But a bigger factor yet is the state of the U.S. economy. People are starting to be very cautious with their money now and how they spend it. The bulk of my sale still go to the U.S. but at lower selling prices and the Canadian and International sales are rising for me anyway. From the latest reports I've read there are literally millions of families in the U.S. that are maxed out with their mortgages and the U.S. housing market is the lowest it's been in 18 years. This is having a big effect on their economy not to mention record high energy costs. Wait and see what happens when the Canadian dollar hits par with the U.S. dollar.

Canadian dollar hits par with the US dollar and we will all be up a certain creek without a paddle.

While foreign investing in our Country will reach new levels they will not reach the level required to offset the withdrawn US investing. Factories and manufacturing plants are being closed daily in Canada due to weak US economy. Everything in the US is being outsourced to developing nations due to the cost of our dollar. It's more beneficial to have auto parts made overseas and pay big dollars to ship to the US rather than having the parts made in Canada and shipped for a relatively low cost.

Our largest trading partner is both a boon to our economy and a vice.

Sunshine, I suspect that we just haven't had enough warm weather yet for people to be thinking of swimming pools & beaches & soaking in the sun. I believe it will come; so, you needn't be scared.

You should try selling scarves and mittens now and bathing suits in October!

You are right Orbitdrop about the auto industry. Stratford industry is largely auto related. We have had one plant close recently. My husband works for one of them and the strong Canadian dollar has caused them to have layoffs and tighten their belts. Competition by overseas markets is slowly driving their profit margin down.
I managed to keep up my sales in April but at a bigger cost because I had so many things go unsold. Hopefully things will pick up again soon. If not maybe I will be out on the street and looking for mittens!
