I do sales and buying here on EBay and on other sites and the only ones that largely turn down international business are the American Sellers. I would like to understand why.

I think probably because they have a huge marketplace within the US. International sales can be difficult at times, and shipping is expensive.

Americans tend to believe that eBay starts and ends with them, all foriegners are thieves, delivery confirmation with on-line viewable signature is required for every 99¢ sale world wide.
Americans also have free home pickup of parcels. Apparently, they have to get out of their eazy-chair and go to the PO with an international parcel, or so I have been told.
When they have to go to the PO? You should hear the complaining about: time, car expense, gas, oil, insurance, waiting in line, adding that into the shipping cost.

Shipping may not be expensive for the seller, but buyers don't understand the high cost. I tried cutting the cost of shipping packages Internationally, and ended up not selling packages, just letter mail to Internation destinations. Too many low DSR shipping cost ratings were not worth it. I am sure US seller find the same thing.

I am assuming that DSR means Did not ship ratings. I am talking packages that are tracked and insured. My buying and selling is hundreds if not a couple of thousand dollar items. I do not refuse any sales for location.

DSR = Detailed Seller Rating.
