I have had 2 different sellers within the last week ask for additional shipping (i.e. shipping costs over and above those clearly stated in their listing). In the first case it was a buy it now auction for $2.99 with shipping of $3.05. I saw it , bought it and paid yesterday!. This morning I get an e-mail that the shipping should have been $7.70 and I need to pay more. Why - if I make a mistake when I list something and get the shipping wrong I honor what I posted and eat the cost? I called ebay and they said to email this person and say if they don't ship what I have paid for at the shipping cost listed I will open a case with ebay. I have done so and I bet this guy is shaking in his boots. In the other case the person and I have been going back and forth on a few emails, they ended up sending an invoice with Zero shipping and I paid this - I am more than willing to say they made a mistake and pay the shipping that was listed - but now they want more than double (almost triple) the originally quoted shipping. Ebay help said to send them the same message - which I have done, but I don't expect any response to this at all. The first guy has numerous feedback and this one has a very few - in either case I don't suppose a dispute will mean anything to them. Is this a new scam to get around paying ebay fees for shipping?
Any ideas?

What is the item #? I only see one 2.99 item, and it had $8~ shipping
I assume these are american sellers. Likely old listings or they havent had a Canadian buyer since the huge USPS rate increase. Nothing can be shipped for 3.05 now unless its paper like, its $7~ for them to mail a dvd here. If its american sellers there are no fees to be saved, and not much reason for them to care if you dont like it

Item numbers are:
- for the silk priced at $2.99 with $3.05 for shipping - 160993455817
- for one batik box lot -221200545792
- for the other batik box lot - 221200563691
Yes these are both american sellers. Even if there has been a huge USPS rate increase - should they still not have to honor their listing The silk just was listed on the weekend and I believe the batik lots were listed the weekend before.
I really don't think that I am expecting too much for sellers to honor their listings. I do and I'm sure that you do as well.

When checking these two listing numbers on ebay.com and specifying shipping to Canada:
221200545792 shows US$ 14.51 shipping PLUS US$ 8.53 import charges.
How much were you actually charged?
221200563691 shows US$ 14.57 shipping PLUS $ 9.73 import charges
How much were you actually charged?

The seller took the import charges off and ended up invoicing me with zero shipping charges. Which I know is a mistake. I have said that I will pay the $14.51 + $14.57 charges - but she now wants $58.00 for just the shipping charges.
