I am a bit puzzled by:

"the customer service rep said eBay is in the process of rolling out a change this year requiring immediate payment on all Buy It Now items."

It seems to be a very fantastic way for eBay to earn the final value fees on shipping costs and thus causing the sellers lost lots of $$$ in paying the unnecessary final value fees plus 30 cents each transaction.

Amazing that eBay would offer that.  What next will eBay cook up the idea to "steal" us more later???  Yes, I call it "stealing"!!

I was curious if that was true so went to that section to check. (they don't make it easy to find)  I saw quite a few listings with add to cart although I couldn't get it to work properly for me. When I clicked on add to cart on various items it would take me to the cart page but then said that my cart was empty.  I've actually had that happen once before in a regular part of ebay so I'm not sure if that is happening for everyone in that section or not. But the impression that I got from the article was there was no add to cart button at all?

I never could make that stupid cart work ever.  I did figure out that I can copy and paste item numbers into ebay.ca where a button to "commit to buy" appears, allowing me to commit to buy multiple items and arrage for combining with the seller if it doesn't work automatically.

This put a wry smile on my face:

"eBay's solution: it recommends sellers manually refund the buyer - though that assumes the sale has taken place. However, an eBay seller told us that not only is manually refunding each buyer a hassle, "each of us sellers is now paying an extra .30 fee per transaction through PayPal because the items are not being combined into one payment."

My, my, my, poor babies!

This is precisely what we Canadian sellers have been dealing with for months, actually almost 2 years now, as a result of the .com cart "disconnect".  Funny how now that it's U.S. sellers who are faced with refunding after the fact on multi-item orders, all of a sudden it's a big enough deal for eCommerce Bytes to comment on.  And this is just one sector of eBay.

I just a buyer in the US have to pay for 12 items separately and I am getting very irate at Ebay's theft tactics to the point I just don't care if I am here or not any more. He paid $54.50 shipping in total.
