ad commerce question

Hello Everyone

Just on my way to play in my last university golf tournament this weekend in the US, The Twin Cities Classic.I hope the weather in Minneapolis is better than it is in Wpg right now.I will be packing my toque and mitts.Clubs are away after that...That was fast.Leaving my retired Father in charge while I'm away. That 's more stressful than trying to make a 3 footer for par.
Anyway, When Im asked how much I want to pay per click in an Ad Commerce
ad; is more better than less.I just cant get a handle on that one.Is there a relationship between the actual amt I want to spend per day,for instance $7.50 and the cost per clicks? Why would I pay .10 per click when I have the option of paying .05c per click?
By the way I'm in my 4th year at the U of Man Asper School of business and doing just fine so please feel free to humble me.
I will look for the responses between rounds..Be easy on me
play well and play often

"Why would I pay .10 per click when I have the option of paying .05c per click? "

The amount charged is based on auction for the space.

If you "bid" (are willing to pay) $0.05 per click and your competitors for the same space are willing to pay $0.08 (for example), none of your ads will ever show up. It will cost you nothing ... but... you will get ZERO exposure.

The same is true in reverse. If you bid $0.15 per click and your competitors are only willing to pay $0.08 (for example), you will only be charged $0.09 per click - up to your daily maximum per campaign.

ad commerce question

AdCommerce is one of the cheapest advertising venue available.

In September, for a total cost of $15.44, my advertisements received 6411439 impressions resulting in 982 clicks (average cost $0.0157 per click). Granted, I advertised in postage stamps, not the most popular category on eBay!

My ads run on eBay.com (where most of the impressions and clicks come from), eBay.uk, eBay.au and eBay.ca.

Yes, you will need to affix a daily max to each ad campaign that you create- for example 5 dollars a day max, etc. Although that sounds really high, so far my campaigns have really cost me peanuts, probably because there are only a handful of people competing against me for space.

I seem to be getting some pretty good bang for my Ad Commerce buck, although I don't see any real dramatic sales increases to date (it's kind of tough to measure how much real impact Ad Com has had on sales, but it has certainly driven a ton of traffic to my store as you will see below).

I list on .ca and my ads include five campaigns- two in Canada, two in the USA, and one in the UK.
Here's a look at my total numbers since April 8, 2009 (These ads took me about 30 minutes total to make up and I haven't touched them since - I have just left them up and running, and once in a while I check in to see how much it's costing me- it's been so long, I probably would forget how to create a new one! LOL)

TOTALS:
Impressions (number of times its been seen): 15,751,437
Clicks (number of times people have clicked on the ad): 12038
CPC (Cost Per Click): $0.01
Avg CTR (Click Through Ratio): 0.08%
Cost to date from April to Oct '09 : C $179.33

So for 180 bucks for approx. 5 months, that's pretty cheap advertising, and money well spent, I think.

Cheers,
AXE

I am using the Avg Pos to see if my Max CPC is too high or too low. If I understand this correctly, an average of 1 says that you always show in the first spot. From what I see (there is not a lot of info on this), there are 3 spots available so anything higher or close to 3 show that your add does not show as much as your keyword competitors.

I also do not think that you need to be in spot 1. So I am targeting an average around 2 or 2.5. I can see my Avg Pos fluctuate when I change my Max CPC.

This is what I found to optimize my Max CPC.
