buyer have a no feedback and a address that does not exist

Hi all,

I sold an item yesterday and the buyer is a new ebay user (october 2nd) with no feedback and a address that does not exist.

He send me this msg as soon he click BUY NOW:

hi seller am very glad that i won your item on eBay i like to see the clear pictures of the item also get back to me with your PayPal money request or correct PayPal email address you can get me on my email address

I did not send him an invoices yet and i contact him that the address is not legit.

He reply:
Thanks for getting to me kindly login into your Paypal email address and send me your Paypal money request so that i can made the payment and i will provide the legit address with the payment.

Finally I open a cases in resolution center.

Is it a good way to do it or there another fast solution for scam like that?

Hi ..And the address will be Lagos , Nigeria. Stop communicating and close the dispute after 4 days. Can use contact us to report the scammer.

When you relist , use immediate payment required to reduce the chance of fraud..

I agree, the best way to handle this is the unpaid item dispute. These scammers want the item for free, it's very unlikely that your buyer will ever pay. You can add him to your blocked bidder list but he'll likely have another user ID very soon. The immediate payment require option is the only way to ensure that you will get paid.

And when you do relist, you knew that paypal will put a 21 day hold on your payment, right?  But you will still have to ship the item within 7 days.  You also knew that on an item that expensive you must send with Delivery Confirmation and get a signature, right?
