claiming money back on non delivered item?

Just have a question i need clarified.

Seller shipped item. Item seems to have been delivered to another place according to usps tracking number.

Upon knowing this i immediately opened a claim with paypal.

If i dont receive the package before end of escalation date i will escalate it to get my money back. But some people are saying that if the package was delivered you dont get your money back...is that the case? Package was delivered in USA and i am in Canada.. item is under 200$..

now i am not even certain if i woul dget my money back....can someone clarify this for me?

Did the seller ship to the correct address? What did they say when you told them you hadn't received it? I do hope you contacted them first before putting in a claim.

Does the USPS tracking show it delivered to the wrong place or are you just thinking that is what happened since you haven't received it yet?

Oh sorry, just noticed that you said it was delivered to the USA and you are in Canada. Has your seller checked with USPS for you to find out what happened?

he said that he called USPS and he told me that they are baffled as to what is going on.... the item was in 2 different states in 2 different cities within the same day and within a few hours of each scans. USPS believes that the package is still travelling. What get me is that usually when the package jumps over in canada it is re-registered with canada post according to the level of service the seller used and then you can track it within Canada. So far nothing like that has happened. It just seems odd that a package which had tracking in the us would not get tracked along and show up in the canada post system for me to see. Thats the part that is getting me worried.

The seller sent a photo of the label he used..electronic label and it does show the correct address on it. I dont think he is dishonest or anything but he is slow to respond and is not making a real good effort ( IMO ) to "get on usps " case to find out what is really going on.

The delivery city is clearly stated in the messed up tracking number. It would be just a matter of finding out what was delivered there or at least try to do that.

i still hope for the package to get to me... if not i just want my money back... i cant afford to lose close to 150$ just in thin air...

Well as far as I know, the package has to show that it was delivered to your address so I think you will probably win a claim with PayPal. If the item never reached Canada then it hasn't been delivered to you and you should receive a refund. I don't think you have to worry.

"Tracking" usually isn't.

What Paypal demands and most sellers purchase is Delivery Confirmation. This is much cheaper, but basically only records the date the item was given to the PO and the date the PO gave it to you.

Sloppy use of language leads to customers thinking that whatever may show on the postal websites has any great meaning. And it is not unusual for a package to move in the wrong direction when that will in time mean it is moving faster.* Don't fret.

You have up to 45 days to start a dispute. You have contacted the seller and he is aware of your concern. The package is correctly addressed and has been sent.

It can easily take 20 calendar days for a parcel to move from anywhere in the US to anywhere in Canada.

If by Day 43 (at the latest) you have not received your parcel, open a Dispute at http://resolutioncentre.ebay.ca/

If the seller cannot show delivery to the address on the PP label, you will be reimbursed the full amount of your payment.

In future, don't watch the parcel so closely. "Tracking" does nothing for you as a buyer but cause stress. Watch the calendar instead.

I jumped the dispute gun as soon as i saw that the package had been delivered so i have until the 11 th of may to escalate this to paypal for resolution. This is the first time this happens to me in all the time i buy.

I usually " watch" the tracking as it provides a fairly accurate picture of what is happening. Some tracking is not full featured and like you said only posts the start and the end but it guess i have been lucky in the fact that most sellers have provided me with some sort of tracking feature that shows the major point where my packages were scanned along the way. So i still have at least 2 business weeks to act.

Frankly i would prefer that the package shows up unharmed and safe rather than getting my money back in this case. It was a rare toy collectible that is hard to find for my collection.
