I don't think you could've bought something if they didn't sell to your country. If the seller has set their account settings to exclude Canada then if you bid, a message would come up saying you can't bid. The system wouldn't allow it.

Did the seller accept your money? Did they contact you at all? If they won't sell to Canada then they'd sure contact you.

Anyways, contact the seller and explain your concern then wait for them to reply.

Hi codymier.. Always check other item information for ships to if you are browsing on any eBay site other than our eBay.ca

If seller will not ship than you need to assist in recovery of the fees you wrongly cost him.

Seller needs to cancel the transaction. If there is doubt that seller knows what to do , message this link..

Be sure to accept when eBay asks.

PS.. can ask a seller, in advance of bidding/buying, if they would consider shipping to you in Canada. That seller should have has you blocked but not all are eBay savvy.

Many sellers especially in the USA,have never noticed that their listings are open to foreigners.

A US seller can have hundreds of domestic sales before he gets one from elsewhere.

ALWAYS check that the seller gives a Shipping Fee for Canada. If none appears, the seller can charge you whatever he feels is fair. And that can include International Delivery Confirmation, which starts around $20.  And eBay will stand behind the seller on this.

Use Contact Seller. Ask for the shipping cost by First Class International USPS . If the quote is too high, apologize and ask for a Mutual Cancellation. The error was yours, not his.

Agree to the Mutual Cancellation and leave polite positive feedback.

I've asked sellers whose items state that shipping is to the US only if they would ship to me in Canada. Sometimes the seller will say yes. The proper time to ask this and other questions is before you place a bid or use big it now.

Hello 'codymier',

Is this about the night scope?  Given the way the seller describes his previous difficulty with that item, I wouldn't buy from him if it was free.  And growing up with brothers I generally have a comparatively high tolerance for rudeness. 😄

Well, what's done is done.  It's important to thoroughly read all of a listing, but I guess you know that now.  You say 'how do you go about it', - buying from him?  If he agrees and is willing, he can simply ship it to you.

You are this far along and if you want the item, why not send him a note using the Ask a question link to the right of the listing.  Be sure to apologize profusely for your mistake, adding that you are new and your bidding enthusiasm blinded you to the part about his not shipping to Canada.  Ask him if he would be willing to ship the item to you via USPS First Class International and what it would cost.  If it is very heavy, it may have to come Priority.  When you agree to the charges he can add shipping charges to an invoice, at which point the whole thing can be paid from the Purchase History of your My eBay page.  After all, you don't want to become one of those people he describes. 😉

Otherwise if you are wanting to cancel, ask him to send you Request for Cancellation.  When it shows up in your ebay messages, you click to respond, then click to agree.  That way he gets his fees back, and can relist with the addendum that it is now the fourth time he has had to do so.  On the bright side you don't live anywhere near him, so at least your kneecaps are safe! :^O

He can get postal rates from here:

http://ircalc.usps.com/?country=10054

but if you both want to cancel, send him heidilynn's link.  And above all, - keep it sweet.  Sure, you live a safe distance from the guy, but he does not sound like someone nice to deal with.  Meaning he may not mind his manners, - and so you must mind yours.

Good luck. 🙂
