on average if i m buying stuff that cost between 50 and a hundred bucks, and the stuff is coming from the usa to canada how much

are the duty and exise taxes going to be?

It depends what the item is and where it is made.  If it is made in a NAFTA country, - no duty.  There could be tax and a processing fee, however.

Items with a declared value over $20 are subject to import charges.  If they arrive by the post, Canada Post charges $8.50 for processing.  You would pay tax according to your province, just like buying locally.  If there is to be duty, it is usually small, around 10% give or take, but can be as low as 5% or as high as 18%, again - depending on the item.

So start with the item price, add your tax on that; possible duty, tax on that; $8.50 Canada Post, tax on that.

Couriers charge big brokerage fees, and UPS is especially high, so most folks avoid buying from sellers who only use couriers.  If you want to have a look at this link about importing by mail:
