Obviously, the answer depends on what you are selling;
- if you have a product that sells 12 units a month at $250 without relists then you don't need to stock a store.
- If there is very little variety to your product line then you probably don't need a store.
- If you don't need/want to sell accessories or add-ons to your product line, then you don't need a store.
I have 100s of small 'cheap' items -- a store is much more economical considering eBay auctions have a minimum charge of $.55 or so, and a good deal of my items sell for $0.99.
I lose money on auctions for 70% or so of them. A store has much less exposure but is economical.
I agree 100%. It depends on what you are selling. The lower cost items I lose money on listing as an auction. I sell many lower priced items and the only reason I actually have auctions is for advertising. I did an experiment and did not run auctions for a month and sells went down huge! So, now even though many auctions I do lose money I consider this my advertising costs.
It also depends how often you roll your inventory with re-list fees etc.
Your sales if the average price is $250.00 is probably better auction.
Oh, and also, as I've found out for some of my items, if not many other people have your items, chances are your show items will show up in regular item searches
