multiple shipping to u.s

so the stuff I sell to U.S is light packet which I can print a pre paid label on Paypal. Multiple copies. most are around the same weight and never cost more so I always do the same weight.

I can re-print the label very easy so I was thinking I could offer free shipping on more than 1 item , this has been on my mind for a while I'm not sure if it is aloud , they really do nothing to stop it..

I see two QR codes on that label! They are both in the "To" section of the label, I was even able to scan the image you posted and read one of the codes with my tablet!

Those codes are not scanned at your local post office but you can be quite sure they get scanned during the first sort. Those scans will never show up online but they will be in CP's system and any dupe scan will generate an alarm.

You would be safer using fake stamps.

So, if someone buys 50 items, your shipping cost will destroy any profit you will make. Only an example as weight can increase drastically for multiple purchases hence shipping costs will also increase drastically

I think what he is asking is, he wants to pay for one label and set his printer to print out a bunch of copies to get "free" shipping on them??!!  And actually asking if its 'allowed' to defraud CP like that?

Are you asking if it is allowed to offer free shipping on more than item?

If so, yes you can.

Or are you asking something else?

You currently offer "free shipping" to your Canadian buyers and charge only$2.00 to American buyers.

It is a very smart marketing concept as you avoid paying FVF on shipping charges to the largest market (USA).

It would also make sense to offer "free shipping" to American buyers for additional purchases paid at the same time.  Yes, it may cost you a few cents from time to time when someone buys several items at the same time but... looking at the big picture... you make money on selling more games.

To set up discount on shipping, take a look at:   http://pages.ebay.ca/help/pay/shipping-discounts.html

Except with CPs rate schedule that doesn't save money combining low weight items like those, and his low averge sale price he'd be slaughtered in losses.  Pretty sure thats not what hes asking about anyway

And yes I am wondering they make it so easy I think if they cared they would not allow the option to be printed just like the 3.33 package that I pay in Canada I can't purchase that through Paypal.

Anyway I think your the only one who understood the question wasn't sure how to ask it I guess people know now.

I try to explain.

I sell games in dvd mailers.

They cost 5$ each to ship to the U.S I add 3.50 in all my prices to cover Canada than 2$ shipping to the U.S.

Small air packet pre paid postage can be paid for through Paypal for 5$ , the same price as if it were at the post office.

There is no tracking as it is a small air packet.

I can reprint these labels within 24 hours as many times as I want with the same address on it.

So I could just pay for 1 and print as many as I want it will stay at 5$.

I guess it would be defrauding but they make it easily available..

Is there any type of bar code (or other scanable code) on the Label? If there is Canada Post are going to know that the label has already been used.

If you are sending multiple DVDs to one customer, why not package them all together, saving the price of all those DVD mailers?

Your 'free' shipping to Canada means that the cost of domestic shipping is already in the cost of the items sold. And calculated as if each would be shipped separately.

So if it costs $2 (example only) to ship a single DVD plus 50 cents (example only) for the mailer, then $2.50 of your selling price is actually the S&H for the shipping.

If you sell 10 DVDs to the same buyer, you are getting $25.00 for shipping. Is the cost of shipping 10 DVDs by Small Packet or even by Expedited Parcel more or less than $25.00?

Using the same label for 10 DVDs for which you have charged $25.00 S&H would be unethical and dishonest. It will put a nasty little stain on your karma that will always itch at you.

For ~$25.00.

Most sellers faced with a multiple sale will refund at least part of the shipping cost to the buyer with a hearty thank you for the multiple sale.

There is no bar code now but there is a traceable number. It appears just below the "Customs Declaration" at the bottom of the label. That is the same trackable number format that used to be used to track small packet shipments. Each label has its own set of numbers when printed. I don't know if it changes though if you printed off a duplicate label. According to my PO clerk there is a type of scanning done by the machines so they would likely know if you reused a label more than once and then the second item would either be returned to you or shipped postage due.

"They cost 5$ each to ship to the U.S..."

If your goal is to save money on postage, legitimately, you can purchase discount postage from stamp dealers selling their excess inventory.  Yes, it is a bit more work than using PayPal postage but you can save from $1 to $1.50 per parcel (20% to 30% below face value).

For example, there was a recent auction in Toronto where many lots of postage stamps were offered well below face value.  Take a look:

http://www.mareschstamps.com/516/auction.php?Start-Lot=1&InLine=

(add 15% commission and GST/HST to the prices realized)

Of course in your case you would not want an accumulation of $0.05 or $0.10 stamps - that would not be practical.  However, if you look carefully I am sure you could have found something to fit your needs.  Many other philatelic auctioneers offer similar lots.  You can even find them on eBay at times (I used to offer those large ($1,000 to $5,000 face value lots on eBay many years ago before I retired).

For example, lot # 11 contained $2,202 worth of postage all in $1 and $2 stamps (ideal for you)  The lot sold for 20% below face value (including commission and taxes).

Its highly unlikely he'd ever sell 10 to one customer, and that pretty cose to what you need to start any real savings in postage with CPs crazy rate schedule.  At some points in the rate schedule throwing an extra one in a bundle costs more then the $5 to mail it separately.  Further complicated by they are different weights, while 1 gram can mean over a $6 difference.

I can work with people who contact me direct to save money on mutliples by not sending the cases.  Trying to make an offer like that on ebay just doesn't work out

@reallynicestamps

The most games I can really fit in a bubble mailer is 3 cutting it close wasn’t really I don’t really have people buying multiple things at once from me usually I notice people buy a few weeks after. I have refunded buyers when I had shipping at 3.50 and it ended up costing 2.10 before I had changed my pricing so I would just have free shipping. I understand what you mean. But now I know they check qr code and I would not of charged for all 10 I would charge 5$ shipping for all them and do that. Not charge the buyer 25$.

@vintagenorth

Ok thanks I did notice that qr code but I found it weird that they have something the U.S scans but not Canada I thought that was just there. I don’t have any others to check find but I will check if that number is different probably is.

@pierrelebel

I have thought about that but most of my postage is 5$ to the U.S or 3.33 in Canada would rather just go through post office. I’m fine paying those rates. I like to keep the receipts. Also don’t you need different stamps to ship from Canada to U.S than Canada to Canada?

@recped

Haha alright thanks for that I thought they were there for a reason not just for show.

@toby

Yup not really worth it especially in Canada when I can ship 3 things separate for the same price as 1 crammed bubble mailer that has a higher chance of cracking the cases. shipping to the U.S is worse rates as a parcel. but like I said I don't get multiple orders from someone they may buy something a few weeks later.. When it does happen I just ship separate.

The most games I can really fit in a bubble mailer is

Why would you use a bubble mailer? How about kraft paper folded? Or B-flute which is a form of cardboard with only one smooth side, allowing it to be folded around the item being packed like a calzone? Or a box?

http://www.uline.ca/Product/Detail/S-19399/Paper-Cushioning/Corrugated-Wrap-Roll-B-Flute-48-x-250

Or a box?

Also don’t you need different stamps to ship from Canada to U.S than Canada to Canada?

There are different rates, but the Dominion of Canada has never demonetized any stamps. You can even use stamps of Newfoundland on Canadian mail.

Stamps are printed in denominations from one cent to $10.00.

Mint stamps over $1.00 face value are hard to find at a discount. But 20% is easy to find, including shipping and applicable taxes.

The new P stamps can't be used outside Canada, because other postal systems don't know what they mean.

Every major retailers uses bubble mailers to send games, even though they send as parcels and don't have to worry about the slot.  P stamps can definite be used internationally.  Pretty sure other post offices would know what they mean, though there is no reason for them to care since they didn't pay them

Pretty sure you can stick 3 P stamps to mail an international letter. I have done it before when I don't have time to go to the post office.
