Attention Seller!
We noticed your shipping cost looks high compared to other listings in your category with similar shipping services. .
We've found that buyers are sensitive to shipping costs. Items with high shipping costs may be less likely to sell and may get less visibility in search results. Listings that violate the eBay Excessive Shipping Charges policy may be removed from the site.
Please review your shipping costs and make changes if necessary. For help, click the Research rates link in the shipping section.

OK, so the first time you see this you stop for a moment, analyze and continue. Next time it pops up just click continue.
I DON'T list shipping on ANY of my listings because of the US dollar changing all the time. I do offer combined shipping. I suppose I won't show up in any searches for sure!
Seller that don't specify shipping in their listings are a pain in the butt for buyers, they should rank lower in search.

And, within Canada...it turns it from Other Letter to Expedited Parcel or Xpresspost. BIG difference!
There is a power seller in the States that sells only eyelets/brads and when she ships 10 packages of similar eyelets/brads...she charges a base price of $2.50 within the US and then 50 cents per package afterwards...for a total of $7.00 to ship 10 packages of eyelets/brads within the States. No insurance on mine or hers. So, yes...having a base price plus per item may be easier for a buyer and easier for a seller, BUT when buyers see that the actual postage is under $1.00....they fume.
As a buyer...I would rather take the time to find out what combined shipping would be vs. paying 43% more for shipping. And, this does add to my workload. However, at the same time 99% of the buyers who e-mail me for quotes turn into very faithful repeat buyers.
My shipping/handling DSR is a 4.8. This other seller's is a 4.3. I have 0 negatives at this time. The other seller has 52...and mostly all related to shipping costs.
My buyers come in and shop, some for days on end, and usually have an array of items for me to package up for them. I would gladly take constructive suggestions as to how to handle publishing shipping.
One idea that an eBay rep gave me was to post *an example* list of shipping on one of my pages in my eBay store. Any other suggestions (constructive) would be greatly appreciated. Also...having to change more than 3000 listings when the US dollar changes not in my favor...major work.

Regardless of the search aspects some buyers at least will always pass on a listing that doesn't show the charges. If only because in the past they have not had fast replies or if they bid without asking they have encountered sellers who do not show shipping up front in an attempt to hide excessive charges.
Buyer actions are governed not only by you but by all their previous experiences with other sellers.

Oh, no...I understand that you were not saying my buyers were complaining. I just mentioned that they weren't. I'm still just at a loss at how does one put that it cost $8.99 to ship one sheet of paper? That would really catch eBay's attention and I'm sure I would get lots of those messages about shipping! I can safely say that 18 sheets will ship for the same price in the US...not Canada. I just don't know how to convey it on eBay.
Shipping has always been the most difficult part of my eBay store.
AND, I do agree with you...if shipping isn't listed...then I should be at the bottom of the search list.

Attention Seller!
We noticed that the paper your selling is made from Canadian lumber and inferior glue from CHINA compared to other sellers of similiar items who are using US lumber and locally made horse glue from Texas and/or Montana.
We've found that buyers are sensitive to item NOT MADE IN THE USA. Items using inferior glue from China may be less likely to sell and may get less visibility in search results. Listings that violate the eBay NOT MADE IS USA policy may be removed from the site.
Please make the necessary changes. For help, click the link in the MADE IN USA section."

We had 3 months of going back and forth with our TSAM and we never got it fixed because eBay was too stupid to understand this, even though we had our CP REP email eBay with the rates.

Anyhow, did eBay email you the message you have described? I ask because I came across the same message while relisting an item but it was a notice within the relist form just before I went to click to submit.
Of course at first, I'm telling myself...yeah right...a 90 cent packaging fee (and I don't skimp on packaging) and my shipping is too high? But then I realized it's just a message to get sellers to take another look and make sure that the shipping costs are what they should be. I don't think it goes any further than that and if it does, I can direct them to my About Me page which explains my shipping costs in detail.
HTH!

eBay is actually dictating how much we can charge to ship? SHOCKING!
I haven't received one of these messages yet, but is there a reply button?
***Due to eBay Policy I'm not allowed to enter my reply to them here as it entails stuff like sticking up your Binuchi respectful eBay Rep.***
I receieved a sample USB Drive today from China, and a USB Phone from them 2 days ago as I'm interested in selling some of their products. This USB Drive was sent in a plain brown envelope with only an attemt to 'pillow-pack' it with a 6" X 4 " paper napkin...unsuccesful as it wasn't even taped over it or anything. (35 cents Chinese postage). Thank goodness, neither of these samples cost me anything (maybe I should have them drop-ship for me or something ...lol)
Oh yea, I'm so very sorry, eBay has outlets in China too? This explains it, my mistake eBay, so take it and put it ......
