It depends on what the item is. Some sellers still seem to do alright with auctions. Try looking at completed listings for the items you want to sell and see of more of them sell by audition or I fixed price.

the vast majority of listings on eBay today are fixed price listings.

With no feedback, neither.

Before you try to sell here, build some feedback as a buyer. There are products you need around the house and also for selling (poly envelopes for example) that will give you some experience with the site and its quirks.

Then start with the FREE auctions. You get up to 50 free auctions every month.

Since only about 40% of all listings sell, free is good.

You can add to your listings the demand that your buyers have an active Paypal account.

Please note that even when you do sell, Paypal will hold your buyer's payment for 21 days against your good behaviour. This Hold can last for a long time, depending on your Detailed Seller Ratings and  your product (high fraud and high value take longer) .

This is not personal, it is a Buyer Protection program.

In addition, in some categories you may find the number of listings you can make are restricted. Again Buyer Protection.

Once you have tried the 50 FREE auctions, come back and we will tell you how to make them into 100 free auctions.

By the way, as a bookseller myself, bookbuyers like their sellers to have a good grasp of language.

Add appropriate miniscule and majescule letters to your title and description.

Since this is a book that was in print for many editions, add the publisher and year of printing. If the name of the illustrator is available add that too.
