why some ebayer use their domain name as ebay id?

as per ebay's policy, it's not allowed to indicated one's website domain name any place than "about me" inside of ebay, why i notice one US ebay seller(power seller) can use his domain name as ebay ID name?

please give some hints!

User id's registered before November 2001 that have been in continuous use are exempt.

Simply add .com after their eBay User ID to get to their website. 😉

canadaspatchking, as was said, it's against eBay policies to do that. The ones that have it are from before the policy.

Btw. your website is quite visible under your nick already, comes on the first place in Google, Yahoo and MSN, you are good.

Of course his site will come up 1st if you type in his ebay id in any search engine?

So will yours or any other ebayer...i'd be more impressed if his site came up if you search for "patches" or "stamps" in Pierre's case. Do you really think "buyers" types in an ebay id in a search on the internet when they are looking for products?

Maybe some potential buyers find it easier to go to google - type in the eBay User ID of a seller - than trying to find it on eBay where entering a seller User ID in the search box will not work.

In addition, potential buyers entering my website first then clicking on the link to my eBay store generate 75% reduction in my eBay FVF on their purchases...

... or they buy directly from the website where no eBay fees are payable.

"potential buyers"...you mean repeat buyers - of course they're going to know how to find you.

If we're talking about new business (potential buyers) you're not going to be found through a search engine - which was my point to begin with.
