21.00 to have some stamps delivered across one border!

Wondering if these stamps are hand delivered by a man with a horse and buggy to justify the outrageous costs around "Ebay International Shipping"

We are ONE border to the north.. The item weighs less than a sheet of paper and could fit within a standard envelope. Let's charge 21.00$ and gouge people while USPS and any other international shipping cost of this same item only costs about $1.49..

So what happens here? Does Ebay just scam that 19$ from users and pay for the $2.00 stamp? On top of them taking a cut from the seller?

Just wondering why anybody should use this **bleep** and why it's even an option when so many cheaper methods exist?

US buyers and sellers demand Tracking and Delivery Confirmation.

The choice for shipping method depends on the seller.

While Canadians get lower shipping rates than overseas customers, most Americans are unaware of that, and charge us the same as Australians or Chileans.

Then there is the matter of duty and sales taxes.

Were those charged on your doorstep or on purchase?
We have a duty free allowance of $150 under the latest iteration of NAFTA and a tax free allowance of $40.  If your purchase was over $40 or over $150 Cdn, the "shipping" may have included those.

But mostly it's going to be the tracking.

Which is a Seller Protection.

Asking a seller to ship without tracking is a fast way to get the sale cancelled and a spot on their Blocked Buyer List.

Even if they normally ship without tracking. (Which Americans just don't.)

This may also help.

I guess you missed the memo to the effect that as per Universal Postal Union dictates, merchandise can’t be shipped internationally as letters, even between close trading partners as the United States and Canada.

Some people ignore this, of course, and depending on the nature of what’s being shipped, they may get away it. But there’s always the chance that the item will get caught and returned to sender.

eBay International Shipping is not in the business of shipping letters. In fact, if memory serves, there’s a set of minimum dimensions sellers must adhere to.

$21.00 does seem a bit steep for a lightweight item handled by eIS, though. What’s the seller’s shipping method and charge for shipping within the US?

The OP sells stamps, and some stamps, as I may have mentioned in the past, can have very high values.

Shipping through eIS could have been a sensible move on the part of the seller.

And any international tracking will be expensive. EIS, Priority Mail, First Class International Packet - the cost will be $20 or more.

BTW - stamps are easy to scan and present better if they are.
