As far as I know the global shipping program in the UK does not extend to North America so you can send something to Canada yourself directly through the UK postal service but not with gsp.

For the last month or so, I no longer see that blurb "Customs services and international tracking provided"

It's obvious that Ebay did away with it because it would forewarn people about sellers using the GSP.  But then again, 99% of the time I browse listings at Ebay.com and not Ebay.ca.  Don't know if the Canadian site got rid of it yet, but the U.S. site sure did.

A number of sellers are agreeable to switch to a less expensive shipping rate, but there are some that are just unwavering.  I usually avoid sellers who use GSP like the plague.

The message is only seen when using List View in search. If you use Gallery View, the message is not seen.

This screen shot was taken a couple of minutes ago on the .com site:

As mentioned in the post above mine, you have to use "List View" to conduct your searches. The blurb is not seen when using "Gallery View".  It never was.

Of course, this applies if you're using a computer to search for items. When using a mobile device, there is nothing telling you that an item will be shipping through the GSP.

That info should be easily visible to buyers regardless of which view they use or whether they use a mobile.  They really don't seem to think these things through.Smiley Frustrated

You can't.

Calm down.

Tracking will not be useful to you.

If the item doesn't arrive within 20 days go to the Resolution Centre in the dropdown menu under Help and Contact up in the right hand corner of this page.

Here's what's going on.

The seller sent the item to Pitney Bowes' plant in Kentucy with Confirmation of Delivery.

PB then put the item into a container and ships it 'in bond' to Canada.

It is then passed to other contracted shippers, usually Canada Post*, for delivery to your home.

All the import charges (duty, tax and service fees) are already paid.

If you are not home when the postie tries to deliver it, he will leave a Delivery Notice in your mailbox.

You take that and government issued photo ID to the postal outlet it tells you to, and pick up your parcel.

Don't overthink this. Thousands of parcels are moving quite successfully through this system, which is badly designed and overpriced but works.

*If you live in a large city it might be CanPar. Or not. Don't worry.

I am expecting a package and the eBay tracking # says it has been delivered, but it has not.   How do I contact the Global Shipping programme to find out where the package is?

You don't.

First ask your household members and then check weird hidden spots. The barbeque is often mentioned. Rarely used doors is another.

Then go to the local Postal Outlet and ask if it is there. Usually it is.

If it isn't, then the parcel was stolen. Go to the Post Office and tell them. Then file a police report, you will need the number in any case.

Then go to the Resolution Centre and file an Item Not Received claim including the police report number.

If it's a GSP item the tracking might mean delivered  to Erlanger,KY. Best to establish or eliminate this  before sending the poster off in a tizzy.

It may take a week for that part of the payment to be refunded. It will arrive. It is a bad system but that seems to be what happens.

I believe we are entitled to $60 duty free, so why are we paying duty on the first $60 ??

Taxes kick in at Can$20, not $60. It's usually not duty but import sales tax.

"I believe we are entitled to $60 duty free"

The link to the government of Canada information has been posted nineteen times already on this thread.  Here goes for the 20th time:

http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/import/postal-postale/duty-droits-eng.html

Under the provisions of the Postal Imports Remission Order, if someone mails you an item worth CAN$20 or less, you don’t have to pay duty or taxes on the item. If the item is worth more than CAN$20, you must pay the applicable duty, the GST or HST, and any PST on the item’s full value.
