I purchased three of the same item from a seller, less than 24 hours later (the next day) the seller cancelled my purchase under "problem with address".
The seller then contacts me and admits the reason he cancelled the sale is he wants to increase the cost of shipping to tracked but the system on eBay wouldn't allow it. He said going forward all his items would be tracked because too many people have abused it.
I have a leave feedback link listed on my page when viewing eBay through my mobile phone but the link is broken. I also have an "appeal the case" on both phone and desktop. Selecting it only takes me to an eBay Customer Service search.
Is there any avenue open to me?
I know I won't get the items but at least I can get the satisfaction knowing this seller may think twice when pulling this stunt again.

There is no case to appeal. Cancellations aren't a case. You can report the seller if you want.

And, if you made the same "decision" as a Seller, you are one, how would you feel...
He was honest with you as to the reasons, just saying.
I would be more concerned about abusive Buyers...

I have to disagree. If the seller wants to use a more expensive shipping after an item has been purchased, then they need to pay the extra amount and follow through with the sale. It's very frustrating for buyers to spend time deciding what to purchase only to have it cancelled. Sellers like that reflect on all sellers here and cause some buyers to leave.
I'm assuming that you wouldn't mind then if a seller canceled the sale of an auction you won because they didn't receive as much as they had hoped? It would be ok because they were honest about it?

I wouldn't make the same decision.
I told the seller in a strongly worded message I was shocked a seller of his experience did something that I already know is a no no.
You honor the contract you make with the buyer period. If I want to change the price of shipping or the price of an item then I do it before a sale is made. Once that sale is made one must deliver or else one's reputation will be called into question.
A couple of times I've made a mistake on shipping costs. I absorb that cost rather than pass it on to my customer. The customer never learns of it from me.
After the seller cancelled, I managed to find a replacement but at a higher cost and not in the number I originally purchased.

Thanks,
In my opinion the seller violated eBay's "Seller Performance Policy" but I'll admit it's a grey area:
- Charge reasonable shipping and handling costs
- Specify shipping costs and handling time in the listing
I presented my case.
Due to eBay's privacy policy I won't be told the outcome and that's okay.
Best case scenario (and that's stretching it), if he'd only asked me and left it to my decision, I might have agreed. I might've said sure and purchased more items to make the tracking for three $3.50 items worth my while. I doubt it but one never knows unless one asks.

Sellers are required to ship at the same price they advertise, unless the buyer asks or gives permission in advance.
If he wants to combine shipping and that requires tracking, he pays for the extra security, not the buyer.
After all, tracking is a Seller Protection and not useful for the buyer, who is protected by the Money Back Guarantee, by Paypal's Buyer Protection, and by the chargeback provisions of his credit card.
