Seller convinced Ebay to cancel a return after I had shipped the item back.

I bought an item recently from a seller in France and when it arrived realized i didn't like it. I requested to be allowed to return the item to the seller. The seller agreed to accept the return. I mistakenly shipped the return by a slow method and it took 6 weeks for the package to reach the seller. In the meantime, the seller became impatient and requested permission from Ebay to revoke the return, which Ebay granted. So the item is somewhere in transit, but the seller has been refunded already. Now the seller has no obligation to receive the package, so they just don't receive it. It sits dead-ended in the post-office in France. The seller has my money, I paid $130 Canadian to ship the parcel back to the seller. The seller refuses to receive the package, so it just sits there in limbo. Eventually it will be sold off by the French Post. Was Ebay assuming that the French seller had some integrity and would ensure that the parcel found its way back to me? Wrong-o! I'm out about $300 and I don't have anything at all to show for it. Ebay should insist that a seller who cancels a return takes responsibility to get the item back to the buyer. The French seller doesn't give a **bleep** that i don't have my item. I'm very angry at Ebay over this.

Frustrated in Canada!

Re: Seller convinced Ebay to cancel a return after I had shipped the item back.

You paid for it, but you returned it?

You are covered by Paypal for 180 days from Payment.

You will need the tracking number on the returned shipment to prove the seller had it back.

You may also be covered by the credit card I hope you use to back up your Paypal account. Their policies vary.

So.

Keep an eye on the tracking for your returned parcel.

When it is back in France, open an Item Not As Described dispute in the PP Resolution Centre under Tools at the top of your PP account page.

This was your mistake. Grownups take responsibility for their mistakes. It was not the fault of eBay or Paypal that you made this mistake.
Experienced eBayers warn newbies not to use Surface shipping exactly because it does take so long.
