Contacted a seller about an item before purchasing, assured that it had a 1 year warranty, it has failed and now they claim it only has a 6 month warranty and will not respond to my messages. Ebay customer help is so hard to navigate through. Help!!

You can try the HELP&CONTACT link at the top or bottom of every ebay page - click on it - then click on buying then click after your purchase then click on anything highlighted in yellow until you get a little phone symbol so you can call ebay and perhaps find a helpful customer service rep. Try to have all of your facts, emails etc at hand when you call in ...

Never mind, I was able to find the email ebay sends out when a seller replies. They clearly stated the warranty is 1 year
All emails on eBay are deleted automatically after 6 months. It therefore sounds like your purchase is more than 6 months old.
I really don't think there will be anything you can do about this, other than report the seller for saying there is a warranty but providing no information about it. As you can see from the page posted and link provided by themodernowl,
sellers who offer either a written warranty or service contract with the items must in their item descriptions provide one of the following:
The full text of the written warranty
A statement explaining how a free copy of the written warranty can be obtained upon written request
A link within the listing that takes members to the warranty details
That means a seller has to actually provide it. Lying to buyers that an item has a warranty is not enough. Even without the email saying yours has a 1-year warranty, the listing itself obviously shows no "full text of the warranty", nor any link for a buyer to go and see it.
I don't want to be a downer but I don't think there is anything you can do except learn that buying cheap from China means you get broken items, items that don't work, that don't always show up, that are not what was pictured in the listing, that may not have wiring that would pass Canada's codes, that could even be hazardous, that are fakes and imitations, and most of all, you always get lied to.
The one thing you rarely get is a great item at a great deal where you can really save a lot of money.
I think the most you will be able to do with this one is report them by using the Help&Contact link at the top of the page and reporting the seller for lying about a non-existent warranty in the listings.
Even if you still had time to file a PayPal claim, PP makes you send defective items back at your own expense using a tracked service. That would likely cost more than you paid.
In future, buy your items from North America and get what you paid for, quickly, and from a reliable seller.

Hi,
How long ago was your purchase? Is the warranty written in the ebay listing? Did you print a copy for your records? If it has been less than 30 days from delivery of the item you can try to open a Not As Described claim through ebay. If it has been greater than 30 days but less than 180 days from the day you paid for the item you can try to file a Not As Described claim through PayPal if you paid that way. The only info I was able to find on ebay help pages was this:

I purchased this: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/2pcs-LED-Rear-Side-Mirror-Door-Ghost-Lights-for-Ford-Edge-Explorer-Mondeo-Tau... in August of 2016 ( ~6 months ago) In the listing the warranty simply says "yes" there is no other information or details provided on the product page. I contacted the seller before my purchase, they stated the warranty is 1 year. I can't use the ebay help site because the purchase is too old to show up.

I just went to check my message inbox, all proof of the original conversation is gone. Is a seller able to delete a conversation like that?

Hi ok well you could try -----> Help & Contact -----> Buying -----> Before Your Purchase -----> How to bid or buy -----> you'll get the little blue phone at the bottom of the page that you click on to get the ebay tel number and a one time access code. You could hopefully find a CSR there to help you.
If you paid through PayPal you can try filing a Not As Described claim through them - you do have 180 days from actual payment date so you might be getting close to the cut off ....

It'll be 180 days as of the 22nd of this month. I purchased it in the latter part of July. Paypals reporting website wont accept my request so I will be calling them. I will also report the seller on ebay for the non specific warranty. The only reason I bought this from china (but from a reputable seller) is because there was no item available for sale in north america. It didn't save me any money buying it from china at all. The biggest problem with this type of situation is that there aren't very many NA sellers that carry items such as this. Some do, but they mark up shipping costs to the point when totalling the combined shipping and import fees the item cost makes up less than 50% of the total cost.
Anyway, thank you all for your assistance. I really appreciate it!
