Just to warn anyone considering using ebay.ca to purchase any event or sporting tickets.
I have confirmed with Ebay today that these transactions have no protection.
Even when they say "protected by paypal buyer protection", this is actually NOT correct. Paypal will not cover any event/sporting tickets in canada. Furthermore Ebay will not protect any purchases on ebay.ca
This essentially leaves Ebay.ca canadian customers WITH NO PROTECTION! Its unbeleivable but true.
I hope ebay addresses this situation urgently. In the meantime if anyone else has been affected please contact me.

"I have confirmed with Ebay today that these transactions have no protection."
One understands from your statement that you, as a buyer, were not protected by eBay/PayPal in a recent transaction.
More details would be required to allow readers to establish if your circumstances apply to them.
Such blanket statements, quite frankly, are not helpful.

It is not a blanket statement. This is ebay/paypal policy.
Event tickets are NOT covered by paypal for transactions on ebay.ca for any reason. Any dispute opened regarding event tickets will be closed in favor of the seller.
Event tickets are NOT covered by ebay.ca for event tickets. This too is a fact.
There is no coverage for event tickets. This is truly shocking as this is a multi-million dollar market. Sellers can freely rip off canadian buyers in regards to event tickets.
My particular event involved receipt of tickets not as described. I opened a paypal dispute, was told by paypal that event tickets were not covered for buyer protection. After spending hours on the phone with ebay.ca, including a conference call with paypal, even the supervisor of dispute resolution on ebay confirmed that this is a real problem that needs addressing.
Be VERY careful buying event tickts on ebay.ca. There is NO RECOURSE in the event of nonreceipt or fake tickets. I was advised to only buy of ebay.com as an initial solution.

If you paid with a credit card through paypal try phoning
the 1-800 number on the back of your card and inquire
about doing a chargeback for Item not as described.
Did you try to use the tickets and were refused entry..?

I guess it must depend on the situation. I have purchased before and put in a claim before and won.
I purchased tickets that were to have been shipped "overnight" and the concert was 3 days away. They did not arrive and i filled a claim for item not received and even though they had a tracking number it showed that as of the date of the concert (or game-not sure which it was) I had not received them and they refunded me

Yes I know, this is a new change in policy. And did you buy on Ebay.ca or Ebay.com.
Read the policy on paypal, they do not cover event tickets for ebay.ca.
It is very confusing, and only applies to canadians using ebay.ca.

I never buy Event Tickets online from eBay or Stub Hub but do from Ticketmaster.
I guess Canadians will have to aware to buy tickets from .com for protection.
Don't recall this change in policy making its way to the Announcement Board.

Apparently if you purchase on ebay.com its ok. But I'm not going to test that after what happened to me!
I used to trust ebay/paypal, but I definately won't be using it for event tickets.

If you have any doubt, phone them. They absolutely will not cover sports or events tickets purchased on ebay.ca. YOU HAVE NO PROTECTION. People could sell tissue paper as tickets on ebay.ca with no repercussion at this point. very scary.

My paypal is taken from a bank account.
If it was from credit card, then your counting on your credit card to provide protection. Paypal claims to protect on the listings for sport/event ticks, but refuses to. This is not only misleading, but fraudulent.

Hi there, I really wish this kind of sales were available now. By maybe the pandemic changed things this much? Also, I would like to ask if you know someone who could help to bet on sports?

I doubt it that they are allowed to do this on eBay. These places must have certain licences, perhaps. Better if you find someone on the thematic website https://www.mightytips.com/bookmakers/fast-payout-betting-sites/ after some study, of course. And maybe you will let me know how it goes. I also try to bet on sports, so this is why I know the place. But I am not that lucky as you.
