Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Welcome to a place of rest and safety!!

Welcome to a place where Philippians 2:3 is practiced: "Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

Welcome to this Christian thread.

(Please leave all aggression, bitterness, and philosophy outside the door and please wipe your feet before coming inside!!)

I live in my own little world. But it's OK... They know me Here!

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Eph.6:11.

Here's another song that has some lyrics that we all need to pay close attention to in the broken world we're living in today. I know it does my heart good to listen to it and it gives me at least some hope for the future:

So glad that I stopped by here before I hit "post". Sometimes that "love thy neighbour" is really, really, really hard. You all are helping.

Wahhhh! I can't listen to the lovely music--I keep getting a message that my Javascript must be turned off (!) or I need to install some thing. DS (he is in Chicago) said "Mom, don't install anything! No! Don't! Please! Wait for me!" He is dear, and I love that he has become a man and wants to protect his old mother, but it is a little hard for me to adjust to the fact that I worked on IBMs when they were huge and used punch cards, companies vied for me, and now I can't do what my 3 year old nephew can do. It probably dates back from the day he gave me my first computer he told me to play with it, I couldn't break it. Well I had a wonderful time, but I not only broke it, I killed it! Why do those darn techies say, "I have never seen this before" all the time? LOL

Good to read you again! 🙂

Nikki...LOL! I can sooo relate. I had a class in IBM punchcards at university. I remember the computer room...it was HUGE! All those ceiling-tall drives! And they had to be kept between 60-70 degrees F. Thank God my kids know more than I do about computers...they are my live-in "tech support"! 🙂

Morning, Shirl! (((squishies))) :)

The ultimate act of love. In a time of His own personal crisis, He could only think of the welfare and betterment of His neighbours. What a transformed world it would be if every person would consider the welfare and interests of their neighbour before their own (regardless of what they personally believe).

You are so right! Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Got this in my e-mail today, and had to share, it's so good! Enjoy! 🙂

A wonderful Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints.

We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life.

We've added years to life, not life to years.

We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space.

We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul.

We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less.

We plan more, but accomplish less.

We've learned to rush, but not to wait.

We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but
we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.

These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes.

These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart, and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, "I love you" to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Good one Julie! George Carlin--I remember him on LaughIn--the Hippy Dippy Weatherman--gosh I am doing a lot of wandering down Memory Lane these days. I like his routine on "Stuff". Santa put a George Carlin desk calendar in my stocking this Christmas and I find that just a quote or two instead of the whole routine can be a little ummmmm raw.

I owe you an email but I am waiting until a get a block of time to answer it. It was really touching and I don't just want to dash off a reply.

Speaking of stuff, I am off to our storage locker. Hope today is peaceful for everyone.

((((Hugs)))) to anyone who needs it today.

Love to you all.

Gee you should check the copyright on that…… Carlin never wrote it. Tsk tsk….do your research….

Origins: In May 1998, Jeff Dickson posted the 'Paradox of Our Time' essay to his Hacks-R-Us online forum, loosing it upon the Internet. The essay has since been attributed to comedian George Carlin, an unnamed Columbine High School student, and that most prolific of scribes, Anonymous.
George Carlin very emphatically denied he had had anything to do with "Paradox," a piece he referred to as "a sappy load of (ahem)," and posted his comments about being associated with this essay on his own web site.

Have a nice day. Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Search me, do your research, plenty of sites.

Come on now...you wouldn't want anyone to think that YOU wrote this....like perhaps some other of your posts...do you? Without a credit to the author, that's plagiarism. You can read all about it...plenty of definitions on the web.
