Good morning everyone!

For the moment, a lovely sunshiney day here--however that is not the forecast. I can see some interesting clouds on the horizon but it has been nice enough for us to have coffee on the deck. The cat can't believe it--she loves the sunshine and is rolling and stretching and talking. I know she blames us for the rainy days by the look she shoots at us when we open the door.

Christine, Julie, all you Moms, enjoy the time with your babies--it goes by so quickly and they are gone--of course, 2 of mine came back--that was a bit of a shock. LOL

Reading the Board, then off for my walk. Praying each of you have time in the day for something you love doing--a walk, a quiet time, a good book, the Good Book, whatever settles your soul.

LOL!

DD17, off to univ. this fall, is upset with me - I let on that her room would become DD7's room, and DD7's room would become my new office. "Where do *I* sleep when I come home for visits?" she asks mournfully.

So this week, I'm off to Ikea to check out daybeds! :^O

LOL! My parents threatened to make my room into a spa bathroom when I went to school. (OK, mostly my mom). My dad didn't want me to go away (I was only 45 minutes away) and was very happy to have me move home again. I not only came back, but later when I got married, DH moved in too because he got laid of 3 months before our wedding! Then later on we had to move out of our rental on the fly because of a dangerous situation with the landlord and we moved in for 3 months with our toddler! (Although I secretly think mom and dad loved having their granddaughter there). My brother moved out for a few months, lost his job and moved back. He's still there and shows no signs of leaving. :^O

Can I come to Ikea too? 😉 I love Ikea.

What was this thread about? :-x

Julie--some chicks are harder to launch than others. Your DD has the world by the tail, she just doesn't know it. Wait until she has gone off to university and her phone calls get farther and farther and farther apart--then change the room. When she comes home between semesters she will be so busy with her friends she won't fuss that her room is gone as long as she has some place to crash when she is exhausted. Hug that beautiful girl every chance you get, you won't believe how much you will miss her, her energy and her light.

Nikki, don't get me wrong - I will miss her, for sure...but I keep thinking of that old poem about roots & wings: give them both to get along in life, you know?

She'll always have a home here, just not a room. 😉 lol!

Hmm...favourite Scripture, story, or prayer...

When I was a little girl, I always noticed hands. Being a survivor of child abuse, hands were always scary to me, as a gentle touch was unfamiliar to my broken spirit. The first time I saw a statue of Jesus was the first day I attended a Bible School. A friend of mine took me, and I loved it!

After learning all week about the love of Jesus, how He was our best and forever friend, I noticed the hands...pierced by the nails...bleeding...on a statue in the church...and I ran crying from the church, heartbroken that Jesus must have been a victim of child abuse, too (or so my child's mind thought!). It made me feel closer to Him, as if we shared this common secret, but I hurt inside, thinking He had suffered so.

My friend's mom sat me down and asked why I was so upset. I told her about Jesus's hands. This wonderful lady opened her Bible and proceded to recite Isaiah 49:16: "Behold, I have engraved thee upon the palms of my hands; thy walls are continually before me" and Isaiah 51:16: "...and I have covered thee in the shadow of my hand..."

She told me of how Jesus had indeed suffered for my sake and to cover my sins, but that he holds me, protects me, and remembers me gently with those same healed hands.

Jesus's hands...the same ones that created the universe, that suffered for my sake, and that carried the cross of my salvation....were what a real Father's hands should be....kind, gentle, and protective. And since that day in Bible school, my heart has been in His hands as well.

I know MLM--I was just thinking about my own mothering and how by the end of Spring Break I was glad they were trotting off to school, and how now, though I am very proud of the careers they are building, I wish I could see more of them. Once they had been away (although DS went to hockey camps each year) once they had established a home away, the child never truly came home again. Just a nostalgic moment--because I like them very much as adults.

Thinking about DS who moved back for so long, I finally charged him rent, then when he was still very comfortable--raised the rent. Hard as it is, I knew my job was to launch him out in to that world. It was my job, but there are days I would love to have him sitting at my table and not having to head out to the airport afterwards.

Thinking about youngest, whose birthday is this week. I am sending her a birthday cake, ordered on line and thinking about her past birthdays. She is a girl that loves birthdays. DH is taking her to the Bahamas.

Middle child, DD is contemplating a move--the town is 4 hours from here. It would be a wonderful opportunity for her DH and she has asked us to come with her. I know that is not good for her family and I love my little home and love being close to my sister for the first time in 35 years. But I will miss those grandkids--it has been such a luxury for me to be near to her and those babies.

Reading about Spring Break, and just envying you all with your chicks still in the nest where you can see them and talk to them--and if you are lucky, hug them every day.

Off to do errands and try to shake this mood. I know I am a lucky duck, nothing lasts forever in this world and change is good but these transition times take me awhile to wrap my mind around.

Awww (((NIKKI)))....The fact that you enjoy your kids now that they're grown shows just how much you enjoyed them when they were little. 🙂 I wasn't aware that your DD was comtemplating a move...I know you will miss that special bond you and James and his brother share, but I'm sure you will always maintain that bond no matter where they go. :)

Good evening folks. Very nice post MLM. I enjoyed it much. Nikki had asked about something that would wrap around you. I was also thinking of His hands and His strong arms. Once in those hands, forever in those hands. Have a number of poems written with the mention of each in them. Thought you might enjoy one that describes our relationship to him....based on a number of sections of scripture but the Song of Solomon was the inspiration. I wrote it probably 20 years ago.

A blood bought bride
Will walk by His side
Along that timeless shore.
And through the eternal days
He’ll be the delight of her gaze
The One who she does adore.

But for now she must wait
Till He comes through the gate
To carry her to His Father’s home.
For there He does prepare
That mansion so fair
A place that they will call their own.

Till then she does wonder
What it was, He saw in her
That she would gain His sweet love.
To share His great name
It was for her that He came
So far from that throne above.

All covered in grime
She had sold for her crime
In the slave pits which this world built.
But He walked so fair
And she heard Him declare
I will have her in all of her guilt.

She would never be the same
As He lifted her frame
And cradled her in His strong arms.
He whispered in her ear
As He drew her near
And she was lost in His charms.

He took her by the hand
To lead her through the sand
To a place so quiet and still.
For I must go away
But I’ll come back some day
For thee, for this is My will.

How wonderful it will be
On that day when she will see
The One for which her heart longs.
As she waits for the better
She reads His sweet letter
And He is the joy of her songs.

Night all
Andrew

Thank you Andrew--that is beautiful. Are you a writer in real life?

(((MLM))) Thank you--as always my friend, you always find the right words.

DSister dropped in, also wanting a little cry. She loves my DD too. She is a second mother to my girls. They lived here when I was in the hospital in NY and she spent many hours comforting them. When my body started rejecting blood transfusions, she was first in line to volunteer her bone marrow. She also did their wedding showers and the baby showers. She loves James almost as much as I do. She has spent many hours on research and pulling in favours to get this little guy some help.

So we had a little wine, a little cheese and kicked around solutions--it is 9:41 and I just finished the dinner dishes.

Praying that everyone is blessed enough to have someone like my sister in their lives. Thanking God tonight for the people on this thread and for my sister.

Goodnight everyone.

Andrew, I hope you won't mind my postng a poem I penned years ago...I love poetry, and it's so nice to meet a fellow Christian poet. 🙂

Above the noise
(Radios, machines,
Lullabyes)
I cry...
And You hear me.

From Your image
(Perfection, immaculate,
Complete)
I retreat...
And You find me.

One of billions
(Insignificant, unimportant,
Small)
I fall...
And You forgive me.

In Your arms
(Caring, burden-bearing,
Strong)
I belong...
And You love me.

On eagle's wings
(Peaceful, Calm,
Serene)
I dream...
And You carry me.

In Your name
(Abba, El Shaddai,
I Am)
I can...
And You encourage me.

In this world
(Complicated, over-rated,
Hard-tasked)
I ask...
And You grant me.

Blessings abundant
(Unworthy, Too good
To believe)
I receive...
Since You died for me.
