Greetings, everyone. . .

Awww, Lori - that IS sweet!!!!

Andrew - so glad to hear of your FIL - God does work in mysterious ways. Many times He answers before we even call.

Nikki - hope everything went well with you GS.

Tom - good to see you!

Pink*caddy - I love that story - TY for posting it.

My soon to be 20-yo DS is home for the summer. He asked me to get him supper last nite and I told him to get it himself. He asked "what happened to 'let me spoil you while you're home, i don't get you much at home these days, i just want to spoil you'? Told him the novelty has worn off!!! :^O I have to admit it is sure nice having someone to talk to about biblical perspectives and company to go to church, prayer meetings, etc with.

On another note - I've always had an aversion to the word "sucks". Whenever I hear it I cringe! I admit I have used it a couple of appropriate times, but I still hate it. Sonny told me to find an alternative - I decided on "vacuums"!! 🙂 I used it during my conversation with DD - and she went 'huh'? So I explained - and she told me 'that's even better, because the word has a positive implication - it implies that all the bad, dirty, yucky stuff has been sucked away - now only the good stuff is left'.

Have a blessed day, everyone.

Passing along some joyful news....

Sobey's has hanging baskets on sale - if you buy 3, they're $7.99 each! I got 9...3 for me, and 6 to give away. They're really nice, too, not scraggly and dried out but very well cared for.

OK, so it's not a warm fuzzy, but worth mentioning. 🙂 :^O

Here's a warm fuzzy...the power of prayer is amazing!

A week ago, I was waiting for DD18 to get off work at the restaurant.

While sitting in the car waiting and enjoying some music, I felt the need to pray for my friend Sharon, whose husband left her and her 4 kids, emptied their bank accounts, and doesn't give child support. Sharon, a strong Christian lady, had just cried to me the day before about how she had been praying God would supply her with some groceries for the next week. She was in dire straits.

I sat in my car, petitioning the Lord for help for my friend. When I looked up, I saw a young couple come from the restaurant with their leftovers bagged. As the girl got into the passsenger side of their car, something fell off the boxes she was carrying. I really didn't think much of it, assuming it was probably the bill or a brochure of some kind.

The couple took off in their car. I continued to listen to my music. Then, a gust of wind came seemingly out of nowhere and blew the couple's "litter" in my direction. It then separated and started whirling around my car like confetti. Being a good former Girl Scout (lol!), I got out to collect the trash.

Lo and behold, it was not trash but five ten dollar bills!

I quickly started the car and went after the young couple, hoping to give it back, but they were long gone. I then took the money to my DD's boss, told her the story, and said I hoped the couple would come looking for their money. She said, "If it hasn't been claimed in a week, it's yours."

Got a call this morning from DD's boss. No claim to the money. I just got home from Sharon's after spending the money on groceries for her and her children.

I think I will be flying high on her tight hug and grateful tears for the rest of my life. God DOES provide! Hallelujah!

Afternoon every one, just flying through as you all say. So waves and hugs all around. I had to excape the numbers and stats for the day. If I don't think of ecosystem based planning for the weekend I will consider myself blessed.

Enjoy much the stories and quotes everyone provides. God guides in that you know. Someone else is blessed by what you took time to post. Lurkers who do not post benifit in ways you may neaver know. Just keep doing it.

Prayers for all where needed. (especially on the main board)

Prayer...part of His master plan. Brings glory to Him as his creatures respond to Him with their needs.

What a privilage prayer is. I do not see where angels pray. They worship and obey yes, but I don't think they pray.

Prayer is powerful. It taps into the resources of heaven. Just a pinch of the power of those resources would vaporize this universe (as it will in a future day). And yet the weakest and feeblest of prayers can unleash possibilities beyond our imagination...

And what is/was the most powerful of all prayers do you think?

Father, Forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Andrew

Ignore-ance

My little girl is visually impaired and learning impaired. She wears thick, pop bottle-bottomed glasses that make her beautiful brown eyes appear ten times their normal size. She is a head shorter than the other children her age, and is fragile and frailly built. She attends special classes at school - those that help her learn the way she learns, not the way the rest of the "normal" children learn.

Although she tries hard every day to be a good friend to everyone, her impairments cloud their judgements, and she is teased and ostracized. She is not given a chance to prove what a wonderful little girl she is. Unfortunately, most children's "first impressions" are visual, and my little one appears diffferent from the first look.

She has two friends who play with her occasionally, but even they are swayed by the gang mentality at times, running from her on the playground if one of the popular kids "catches" them playing with my child, the outcast.

She mourns her best friend, Nicole, who died last Halloween. She misses the companionship of her little pal who loved her despite her handicaps. They were two peas in a pod. Where Nicole was physically weak from a dozen or so heart surgeries in her short lifetime, my daughter was strong, and helped her friend learn to play baseball and ride a bike. And where my daughter was slow to learn, Nicole was patient and kind, offering her help so Chelsea could read. They were two halves that made a whole, and Nicole's absence in her life has left a void that has yet to be filled.

Because her heart breaks on a daily basis, as her mom, so does mine. I fear she may never come to know the true meaning of friendship, since the examples shown her recently have not been stellar. I worry that her heart will become cold. I wonder if bitterness and resentment will be the result of her socialization in a world of children who can't accept her limitations.

Although she plants her feet and screams that she doesn't want to go to school each and every day to face the insanity that is her little life, she eventually finds the courage to take my hand and lead me into the den of fire she must face. With a tear in her eyes and a deep breath, she waves goodbye to me at the school's door, and I return home to hug her Mr. Bear, smell her scent on his fur, and pray for this child who I ask God to protect and make an instrument of His love.

Thrilled to be released from her miniature prison, she comes home smiling every day, never failing to give me a hug of relief and a handmade letter or card that simply says, "I luv yoo, Moomy!" Since I can see her brilliance and radiance in her heart from a mile away, I don't understand how children, who are supposed to be altrusitic and see the best in everyone, are blinded to the sunshine in my baby just because of her awkwardness.

Every day for the past few years, before the sun rises, I get on my knees and ask God to help her. "Please, Lord," I cry, "send your angels to watch over my girl. Remind her of Your neverending love when she feels most alone. Touch your healing hand to her broken heart when she feels most hurt. Build her up with your assurance when she feels most defeated. Lord, help me to help her find her way in a place where her path is so defiled my ignorance. And finally, forgive the children, Lord, for they know not what they do."

Each night, after reading to my little daughter, we hold hands and pray. Last night, God spoke to me through my daughtter's prayers, as I heard my own prayers echoed through her sweet lips. It took everything I had not to cry as I heard her whisper in sincere reverence, "God bless those who purposely leave me out and ignore me, and those who don't really know me and call me names. They are the ones who need You the most. Help me to help them. Amen."

Now I know why my child comes home smiling: She has not learned of bitterness, but of forgiveness. She has not leanred to live in fear, but in confidence of The Master's love for her. She has not accepted her limitations but has learned to rise above them. She has not learned to hate those who would persecuate her, but has learned that the power of prayer is a healing thing, more powerful than any handicap.

And I have learned to let go and let God continue to be there in my place, protecting her from the enemy at every turn. So this morning, instead of turning around and crying as she made her way through the school's doorway, I rejoiced.
