An odd day here on the west coast. I woke to the sound of fog horns, but the afternoon seemed very humid. Poor herons are being driven out of a nearby park--an eagle is eating their young, and I noticed 5 on my walk this morning--wondering if they came from there. Poor things--there is a resident eagle here too.

Just about to close down, Friday night friends come and split a bottle of wine and we rehash our weeks--it has been a big week for each of our children (thank God for good reasons--we have had plenty of the other weeks) so it should be nice. I am hoping it will still be warm enough to sit on the deck--especially because it is before mosquito season and the jasmine is blooming and the scent is wonderful on the summer air. I don't have much of a garden, so I try to enjoy every little bit that I have.

One piece of news I would like to pass on, and those who have autistic kids will understand why this is "big"--my autistic grandson who was so speech delayed, and does not like people touching him, put his arms around me and said, "I love you Granny". It doesn't happen often, I usually know when he is pleased to see me because he runs up and wallops me one. He has underdeveloped muscle control and his hitting me distresses his parents, but they need to see his face, he is smiling at me, and is just excited. Ah to have had him hug me......well my cup runeth over.

Hope everyone has a great weekend, and many hugs and "I love you"s especially if you have a sweet baby James in your life too.

Good afternoon everyone. Hope your Sunday is bright and cheery.

Beautiful day here. Had a nice visit from a young friend from New Brunswick this morning. He and his wife were running in the Cabot Trail relay and stopped by just after the race. Took the 56 teams about 26 hours to run the trail.

They had some interesting encounters with moose and bear in the National Park in the middle of the night. Overall enjoyed themselves.

Have a great day all.

A little boy asked his Mom, "Why are you crying?"

"Because I'm a woman," she told him.

"I don't understand," he said.

His Mom just hugged him and said, "And, you never will."

Later the little boy asked his Dad, "Why does Mom seem to cry for no reason?"

"All women cry for no reason," was all his Dad could say.

The little boy grew up and became a man, still wondering why women cry.

Finally he prayed and asked, "God, why do women cry so easily?"

God said:

"When I made the woman she had to be special. I made her shoulders strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to give comfort.

I gave her an inner strength to endure childbirth, and the rejection that many times comes from her children. I gave her the sensitivity to love her children under any and all circumstances, even when her child has hurt her very badly.

I gave her a hardness that allows her to keep going when everyone else gives up, and that hardness can take care of her family through sickness and fatigue without complaining.

I gave her strength to carry her husband through his faults and fashioned her from his rib to protect his heart. I gave her wisdom to know that a good husband never hurts his wife, but sometimes tests her strengths and her resolve to stand beside him unfalteringly.

And finally, I gave her tears to shed. They are hers exclusively to use whenever they are needed, to cleanse her soul and call upon My will."

~Author Unknown

"You see my son," said God, "the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart - the place where love resides."

Good morning, friends of Jesus! 🙂

DD7's school dedicated a tree with a plaque beneath it in memory of her best friend Nicole who died on Halloweeen night of '06. Nicole's parents and exteded family came, and the kids sang "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" in the gym. There were no dry eyes in the place.

DD is a bit sad, but I know that grief is a journey, not just an emotion. Please keep her in your prayers.

Thank you. 🙂

My mum has begun radiation to her brain this week. (There is no mets at this time but usually if small cell carcinoma of the lung does mets, it is to the brain. She has been told this is a preventative thing....but for the life of me I'm having trouble understanding the concept. If radiating an area helps prevent cancer, then PLEASE, I'd like my entire body radiated.....end of rant).

My mum is 75. She has been fighting cancer in some form or another for the last 15 years, with only a 4 year break which ended last summer.(During her 4 year break, I went through my own personal cancer battle). For her lung cancer it has been 8 cycles of chemo and 5 weeks of radiation. She is weary and although has not given up the fight, is really finding this a struggle.

I know prayer works. I know the more people you have praying, the more powerful it becomes. So....I am asking you to add my mum to your list. Not neccessarily that she be healed, but that she continues to find the strength to fight.

Thanks :-x
