Hello to Andrew, Tom, Julie, April and to all who lurk.

So thankful today, and thinking about "careful what you pray for". A year ago we were praying dear GS would be able to learn to talk. As his father said to us this week, "He has been talking for 4 1/2 hours--he has not stopped!". He was laughing--everyone is very thankful for this answered prayer.

DGS is a bit of a scamp. He was acting up before is brother's first birthday yesterday. He kept talking nonsense syllables and was driving his Mom bonkers--she was expecting 15 people for dinner and thought she was watching him go in to full retreat to his other world. So I sat beside him with one of those new toys like the old etch-a-sketches. I wrote down what he said, and repeated back to him "Nanny nanny nanny rah rah rah, six dix mix boo la la." He burst out giggling, wrapped his arms around me and said, "I love you Grannie". Sometimes this little boy is playing with us, and on his brother's birthday, he sure knew how to get some attention! I am so thankful for this time in my life when I have the time to help an overstressed mother. I thought I would hate being old, but it such a rich time of life.

As for brother, he is so adorably normal, so obviously healthy, it makes me cry.

April, I agree with Nikki - we all feel like that at times. I type lots of posts but never actually post them because it's not worth it. It's JUST a chatboard....I prefer real life myself. :-x

The visit is going well...this last round of radiation has been much harder on my mum than any of us thought it would. The brain swells with the radiation treatments but there is no where for it to go, and so she is having quite severe headaches and awful nausea. She's quite confused at times as well unfortunately. She is on steroids to help with the swelling but they present an entirely different set of problems. (I remember being on them myself when I was going through chemo. It was like being on speed....or what I thought being on speed might be like. Not a nice feeling).

We are doing lots of 'catching up', lots of reminising. Have shed some tears, had some laughs....and hopefully will have more as the week goes on. I am so very thankful that she is my mum...the shining example of strength and perserverance that she exhibits daily.

Thanks for your prayers for her.
