Good Morning,

It is going to be another beautiful day in the GTA. I have already been out for a walk and the weather was perfect!

Hope that everyone had a good weekend.

Hi Nancy!

I am glad you enjoyed your walk, and I am completely envious of your weather. Dithering too--every Columbus Day/Canadian Thanksgiving DSis and I go to the US East Coast. Most times it has been cold, one year there was snow--so I usually pack cold weather clothes. I don't want to be the slub with the turtleneck and bright pink sweaty face--on the other hand, I have take all my warm weather clothes to storage. So dither, dither, what to do? (It is so nice for this day, at this time, my biggest problem is what to pack) Dsis and I go on this trip and sometimes it is hard to face what is happening in our lives. I remember one trip when I said as we pulled out of the driveway, "Please don't ask about my kids". One year she was preparing a case for the Supreme Court and she just said, "Don't ask". One year I was just growing my hair back. One year she had not been a widow long. On the rough years, we just drive and drive through the beautiful landscape, leaf peeping--we go hours without talking. In the evenings we go to good restaurants and drink good wine. This trip always restores our souls.

I am so thankful to God that I am still here to enjoy this trip and that my sisters and I are such good friends now.

I am also so thankful that I have "met" wonderful CTSers, most of whom post to this thread.:-x

Sounds like a wonderful trip Nikki. I wish I had sisters too but according to what I've heard, most people who do don't get along with them. Your relationship with your sistes sounds very special so treasure it always.

Nikki - no matter what the weather, it certainly sounds like you are going to have a wonderful long weekend. This time of year (when the leaves are changing) is so beautiful and the perfect time for a car trip. It is super that you get along so well with your sister. I cannot say the same here.

Babes (hubby) and I are going to have a nice quiet weekend as SS is staying in Hamilton and cooking dinner with his friends. I laugh when I hear him talk about his friends who can't boil water as this is the kid who complained when I insisted that he help in the kitchen so that he knew how to cook!

Thanks Lucie and Nancy--we do get along--sister in Victoria and I always have, but we lead very different lives. We have both mellowed. Our politics are very opposite, we don't share a religion, so we don't either. Neither of us wants to make our position clear at the cost of making the other one cry. It ain't worth it.

Sister in Toronto-- the difference in our ages is only 4 1/2 years--but it was the world of difference growing up. (She looks fabulous by the way--if you saw us together, I think you would think she was the younger one.)

During the 60s, 70s, 80s and most of the 90s we all saw each other once a year at my Dad's.

This is a later-in-life friendship, and a real blessing of my(ahem) gold years.

The bear religious joke:

A priest, a Pentecostal preacher and a Rabbi all served as chaplains to the students of a community college in Ontario, north of Highway 7.

They would get together two or three times a week for coffee and to talk shop.

One day, someone made the comment that saving the souls of people isn't really all that hard. A real challenge would be to save a bear.

One thing led to another and they decided to do an experiment. They would all go out into the woods, find a bear, preach to it, and attempt to convert it.

Seven days later, they're all together to discuss the experience.

Father Flannery, who has his arm in a sling, is on crutches, and has various bandages, goes first. "Well," he says, "I went into the woods to find me a bear. And when I found him I began to read to him from the Catechism. Well, that bear wanted nothing to do with me and began to slap me around. So I quickly grabbed my holy water, sprinkled him and, Holy Mary Mother of God, he b ecame as gentle a lamb. The bishop is coming out next week to give him first communion and confirmation."

Reverend Billy Bob spoke next. He was in a wheelchair, with an arm and both legs in casts, and an IV drip. In his best fire and brimstone oratory he claimed, " WELL brothers, you KNOW that we don't sprinkle! I went out and I FOUND me a bear. And then I began to read to my bear from God's HOLY WORD! But that bear wanted nothing to do with me. So I took HOLD of him and we began to wrestle. We wrestled down one hill, UP another and DOWN another until we came to a creek. So I quick DUNKED him and BAPTIZED his hairy soul. And just like you said, he became as gentle as a lamb. We spent the rest of the day praising Jesus."

They both looked down at the rabbi, who was lying in a hospital bed. He was in a body cast and traction with IV's and monitors running in and out of him. He was in bad shape.

The rabbi looks up and says:

"Looking back on it now, circumcision may not have been the best way to start."
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."--Unknown

Evening all! Just a quick post before bed. How is everyone?

Some rain on/off here, but warm weather anyway. Looking forward to a few good days outside to move some trees/bushes around and get the backyard prepared before Winter.

A sunroom would be so nice to enjoy all year round!

Been busy, working too much, maybe taking on too many projects at once.

Hope everyone is well, I miss chatting!

Night!

Good afternoon all! Nikki, hope you are enjoying yourself! We might be at 49/50 before the weekends over!

Its beautiful outside! Sky is a nice blue and the lake is slowly moving eastward along with a nice breeze. I couldn't get to the outside work today, maybe tomorrow we will be blessed with another day like this.

Take care all!

I'm flying west this evening to spend 2 weeks with my mum. My sister is off to Disneyland for a break.

I'm not too sure how it is going to go...I haven't spent 2 weeks with my mum for 25+ years, and it never was just the two of us. You might even say I'm a tad anxious. Prayers appreciated.

I'm unsure of my sisters computer status so it will be hit and miss for the next 2 weeks. I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving weekend. We all have soooooooo much to be thankful for. God never ceases to amaze me. :-x

Take care. 😄
