Hi Christine, TOB,

It was a lovely weekend here also. Hubby and I managed to get quite a bit of stuff accomplished around the house and we are still talking to each other. I just can't believe that I spent Thanksgiving in shorts! As TOB said, I have lots to be thankful for.

How are you making out with your mother, TOB? I have an appointment in Newmarket on Friday so I will be thinking of you then. I am waiting to hear whether Nikki froze or broiled this weekend!

Hey everyone! How are you enjoying your first day back?! It started out cool, but ended up hot again! I'm certainly not complaining about this awesome warm weather! Look forward to more sunny days and blue skys!

Anyone started to decorate for Halloween/Fall? I saw a really neat idea where you stack pumpkins on your porch. I will scan and post that later, really worth a peek!

I've lost both parents and I'd still never say ..."you never know what kind of kids they have". Lizzie won’t let the other thread go and her comments to another TS member who Lizzie does NOT know but made unnecessary assumptions about.

I have lost both parents and my baby brother. Out of that nuclear family, I am the only surviving member. With trageties in life, comes the opportunity for either growth or degeneration. The onus is on the person who has experienced a significant loss whether he/she will grow from the experience and become a more compassionate human being or not. <>

Sorry to butt into the conversation, but I just have a quick q.

I've known that the symbol of the fish has been associated with Jesus...but I never really knew why. So today I get this feedback from a buyer:

I always thought the fish was related to Greeks. You know those easter eggs they decorate with the fancy designs? They use the fish symbol alot...I didn't know it was related to Jesus and Christianity.

Yes….antlers.

They are the image of a pagan male God with horns on his head. The stag antlers represent tree branches, and thus stand for fertility. Goat horns were not used, nor introduced into Horned God images until the Christian period, which was meant to convey sin & evil …..hence the word……"Scapegoat"…..found in the bible…. The goat, over whose head Aaron confessed the sins of the children of Israel on the Day of Atonement. Thus the goat, symbolically absorbing their sins.

Nancy...thanks for asking about my mum. Things are going...... okay. The once very dynamic, independent, vivacious woman that was my mother is not longer here. Instead she has been replaced by a very frail, weak, little old woman whose hands shake when she writes....and yet there are times when I think I do see my mum in there, somewhere.

This is harder than I ever thought it would be and there is no doubt in my mind that when my sister gets back from her holiday she is going to be annointed into sainthood. I can't imagine living with this 24/7. I'm almost ashamed to think that...I didn't realize how selfish I was. I like the fact that I can come and go in my life and not really have to worry about anyone else. My kidlets are now adults. I'm enjoying the phase of life I am in. This has given me a real appreciation for my sister and what she does daily.
