Hi Gary
He never changes while we often flitter as a flag in a gentle breeze. Each of us experiences that. I am often impressed with the words of the greatest of the Lord's people.

In the Old Testement Isaiah crys out on behalf of all Israel and uses himself as the example and says :Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."
Here the man of God likens the righteous acts ie: the very best of their good deeds to the bandages that were wrapped around the leppers wounds and allowed to become filthy with the dirt of the world. If this is how God saw their very best of their good deeds how much more worse their sins. The amazing thing is that the one closest to God is the one to say this and include himself in the statement (all our).

In the New Testament 1Tim. 1:15 - Pauls as he writes words of encouragement to his young friend:

1 Timothy 1:15
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

We see here again the one who should be closest to God declaring in the present tense that he is the chief of sinners. NOT was BUT is. Many a searching soul fearful that all hope may be lost for them have found true peace in that verse ; as one would say if He can save the chief of sinners then He can save me.

It is very true that those closest to God in heart truly do see how Great He is and how small and sinful we are.

And yet we are precious in His eyes. What a God He is.

The amazing thing is that He has foreseen it all and in the stangest and to us unknown ways it is still part of His great unfolding plan. But yet it is His love that binds all together.
Take care
Andrew

I agree--and it is always a pleasure to read his posts.

I think we have several others too who are well versed, and again, it is such a pleasure to read them. I have had no religious education, so it is especially interesting to me.

Nikki and Gary. Thank you for the kind words.
Nikki I too have not had any religious education - apart from a bit of Sunday school when I was young. But after I was saved I began to read and most importantly to listen to the Bible.
There is a verse "If any man lack wisdom, let him ask of God" Boy could I place myself in that verse.

So I would read and study the Bible with only concordences and dictionaries. And on my knees I would ask Him to show me things. Little by little I learned. And I spent time with those who approached His word the same way. Sisters who could take all the University educated preachers and ministers and scholars and silence them with their knowledge of the Bible gained from learning it on their knees and applying it to their lives. Sisters who taught themselves Greek and Hebrew.
Brothers who also learned the same way. Many of these yes with university educations but not all. I am very small in the knowledge of scripture. But I have areas of interest and in these areas He has shown me much.

But I sit in awe of others - just ordinary people who love God and trust His word. In our area many do not belong to any organized group - but much is done in house church enviroments and prayer and study circles.

Our children learn to read using the King James Version often well before they enter school. They are read to from the earliest months. We teach them everything we can not only of the Bible but of science, politics, history. economics etc. Most of the teenagers can walk circles around the science teachers in school and are up to date on the most modern theories of science including cosmic evolution. We teach and have taught them (my own are older now) both secular knowledge and for lack of a better word spiritual knowledge. They also read much of what their peers do such as Harry Potter etc. But we give them the tools of critical thought. They learn how to differentiate between theory and fact. They are taught to understand the basic assumptions that are used to form the many theories they will encounter in the world. We teach them how to ask the hard and critical questions. They are taught to understand the philosiphies that control much of human thought and why even well educated people will believe certian things in cetain ways.
We teach them the old ways of how to make right choises in life. They are taught right from wrong.
It is up to each of them to apply these things as they live their lives. Also each one in their own time must come to deal with God on eternal matters. We have been fortunate to see most of the children and young people come to a saving knowledge of Christ.

Nikki, religious education does not make christians who understand God. Time, honest time spent with Him and His word and then applying what we learn is what does that.

Each stone has its place in the temple and the mortar of love binds us all together.

Nikki, you may not have any formal 'religious education', but what you do have is a deep rooted love for God and a life that walks the walk and talks the talk.....and that is such a wonderful thing.

You can tell by the way you post :-x

Hello everyone! I usually just peek into your thread every now-and-again but something you posted mlm has aroused my curiosity!!

I've been involved in a women's Bible study about obedience.

Is it about women being obedient or just people in general? If you don't wish to eloborate I understand, thanks for your time!
