Welcome to a place where Christ should be exalted and "Self" should be abased!!

Welcome to a place where the BIBLE can be discussed rationally, intelligently, and positively without unnecessary argument!!

Welcome to a place where prayer can be requested and encouraged!!

Welcome to a place where positive and encouraging thoughts from scripture can be shared in a caring and loving way!!

Welcome to a place away from all the arguments, recriminations, and negativity of the outside world!!

Yes Bob I prefer charities like boy scout apples and food drives.

Money spent on beer and wine can go a long way feeding the hungry.

I like to give to the Scouts Benne, it's a good cause and they certainly are NOT always in the black. I was in the program for many years and had many good times. We used to have bottle drives in the 70's, but since there is no deposit on plastic pop bottles thats out.
HOWEVER Ontario has recently put a return fee on Wine and Liquor bottles !!!
Return at the local beer store.

I remember a time when people would ridicule Christian beliefs or thoughts at this board. Happy to see this thread.

Those were good days Christine--we had money, youth and health--but I am honestly just as happy today--even though I had to take a bus to the ferry then airport, youth is long gone and health is a gamble each day. I know I am so blessed to have my partner of almost 40 years beside me. He is at the cardiologist's today, and considering he is one of the two we can see, am praying that this dr. is at least competent.

Ralph, tough job your wife has. God bless her for choosing that field of service.

Hi Ramona!!

Liz--it must have been a very satisfying weekend for you. I know fund raisers are lots of work--exhausting sometimes, but it sounds like your efforts paid off well.

Waving at Christine, Nancy, Marion, Andrew, Tom, Nellie and all those I missed.

Hugs to MLM and Deb--hope all is well with you both.

Thanks Christine--sometimes living in B.C. and on an Island is a touch frustrating. It took DH a couple of years to even get on a list to see a cardiologist (he had a stent put in when we lived in the US) then he had a 9 month wait for an appointment. He got good news that he is in the top 20% for being fit, but his BP and cholesterol are still too high, (although he had his blood tests 9 months ago) so they are increasing his meds. Yikes! as if this dear man isn't already grumpy enough. I will pray for patience, but you may see me posting more on lovely LONG walks and long, long times rowing my little boat.LOL

His MRI is tomorrow, but I am not expecting any bad news--just want some reassurance that all this pain is normal for someone whose discs are degenerating. The dr. is not so sure.

We had a beautiful stormy sea today, and the beach looks lovely and clean. The surf is still pounding, but the sun has come out.

Evening Nikki! Are we at 55 yet? Ah well, sooner or later.

Must be so nice to live there! One day I will see it for myself, my uncle lives in downtown Vancouver, and I always say I will visit him!

Glad hubby is fit and I hope he can lower his BP and cholesterol too! So you go on these lovely walks and rows together? Sounds nice.

Do you ever see sea glass? I don't know anything about it, but its beautiful and I want to get some and make something special with it.

It was surprisingly warm today, house is at 76 yuck!

We have been redoing our sauna/shower for almost a year, and its almost done! Im so excited that I have to show you pics in facebook once its complete LOL! A year is a long wait! TTYL

TickleTrunk: One of the CTS boardies sells sea glass and jewellery made from it too. She lives in the Maritimes and her username is "willowblacklab" or something similar. You might want to check out her auctions.

Good morning Lucie, Christine and all,

I'd love to see you Christine--and I have a guest room with a very comfy king size bed. If you bring kidlets, I also have two of those inflatable beds, and if there are more of you, I have two window seats and a couch that can be made into beds.

Yes, we do get sea glass here--I love to roam the beach after a big storm and find the glass--This being BC, there is a large amount of brown (as in beer bottle), but we do get the lovely pastels too--just not as common. Email me your address--I will send you some.--All colours? size? an assortment? Let me know.

Yeahhhhhhhhhhh! The sun is out. I am going to do a quick read of the board, then out to rake leaves. Have a wonderful day, everyone.

One of the prizes Rocky won in the pet contest last year came from Willow Black Lab - it was beautiful!

Ali, I have seen some of her work--just beautiful. I don't have the talent to do anything with the glass, I just gather it. I am doing a planter in the ceramic pieces I have collected.....someday. And some stepping stones....one day.

Christine, the sea glass is just glass that has been broken, smoothed by the motion of the ocean, and the friction of the sand. Prized here is if you can find amber glass and red although now that the big stores are stocking red glasses, it will become more common. Lovely to see something that was garbage once, now beautiful.

I was very fortunate last Christmas, as willowblacklab was my Secret Santa and she send me a beautiful sterling silver pendant & chain with a large chunk of beach glass in the softest, palest shade of green with the matching green stud earrings. It's an opaque glass but it's like gazing into a crystal ball in a way -- you sort of expect to be able to see through it. That glass is so soft to the touch & so mysterious to look at that I couldn't help but feel that it had a certain mystical properties.
