Oh wow!!! Glad I caught this thread before it got lost in oblivion past page 1!!

Good to hear you're well, Sir Tom.

(((April, Nikki, TOB, & Tom)))

God is good, all the time ..... All the time, God is good!

Just a little quote from church service over the weekend I want to share ...

"We have nothing to fear for the future, except forgetting How God has led us in the past." - LS, EGW, p. 196, paraphrase

I have experienced that when I am faithful in the little things, His faithfulness is even greater ... far greater than I will ever want or need.

Hello to all! Hope your days are good.

I got baptized this morning. This little church has been so welcoming. The grass was mowed, the gardens were weeded the flowers in the church were beautiful, and the Pastor wrote a special service for us. For coffee hour there was a huge cake set on a table with lovely tablecloth, and there were another bunch of flowers there. It was very humbling--this church is tiny, and other than the Altar Guild, there are no committees. The man who mowed the entire lawn is 72, the gardens were divided in 3 sections and the gardeners were in their 80s. The man who brought the huge cake is a pensioner. Now I know why when we volunteered to weed everyone kept saying--oh we can talk about that later. Their preparation of the church was a gift. The whole day has been so humbling.

Can You Sleep When The Wind Blows?

Years ago, a farmer owned land along the Atlantic seacoast.
He constantly advertised for hired hands. Most people were
reluctant to work on farms along the Atlantic. They dreaded the
awful storms that raged across the Atlantic, wreaking havoc on the buildings and crops. As the farmer interviewed applicants for the job, he receiveda steady stream of refusals.

Finally, a short, thin man, well past middle age, approached
the farmer. "Are you a good farm hand?" the farmer asked him.
"Well, I can sleep when the wind blows," answered the little man.

Although puzzled by this answer, the farmer, desperate for help,
hired him. The little man worked well around the farm, busy from
dawn to dusk, and the farmer felt satisfied with the man's work.
Then one night the wind howled loudly in from offshore.
Jumping out of bed, the farmer grabbed a lantern and rushed
next door to the hired hand's sleeping quarters. He shook the
little man and yelled, "Get up! A storm is coming!
Tie things down before they blow away!"
The little man rolled over in bed and said firmly, "No,
sir. I told you, I can sleep when the wind blows."

Enraged by the response, the farmer was tempted to fire him on
the spot. Instead, he hurried outside to prepare for the storm.
To his amazement, he discovered that all of the haystacks had
been covered with tarpaulins. The cows were in the barn, the chickens
were in the coops, and the doors were barred.
The shutters were tightly secured. Everything was tied down.

Nothing could blow away. The farmer then understood what his
hired hand meant, so he returned to his bed to also sleep while
the wind blew.

When you're prepared, spiritually, mentally, and physically,
you have nothing to fear. Can you sleep when the
wind blows through your life?
The hired hand in the story was able to sleep because he
had secured the farm against the storm.
We secure ourselves against the storms of life by
grounding ourselves in the Word of God.
We don't need to understand, we just need to hold
His hand to have peace in the middle of storms.
-(from Uncle Arthur's Online)

A friend of mine sent this to me today,
and I enjoyed it so much, that I wanted to send it to you.
I hope you enjoy your day and you sleep well tonight.

May God bless you & yours.

Oh my!!! I had to go searching for this thread ... wanted to share this 'piece'. Just came home from a church campmeeting (a 10-day event - although I didn't stay for the whole thing) - so feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, relaxed - although I have to admit I almost lost it all driving home yesterday - you'd think after all these years I'd be getting good at this trailer-hauling business!!

Anyway, one phrase that stood out from this whole week was "Knowledge does not necessarily constitute behavior modification". In other words ... More than just 'knowing' Jesus, I need to live a life that reflects that. This story is about self-sacrifice & serving others.

WHO'S YOUR SUSIE? (It's a 'forward' and my attempt at googling 'Susie wet pants' did not come up with an original source so I attribute this to that infamous author 'Anonymous' :))

Come with me to a third grade classroom..... There is a nine-year-old kid sitting at his desk and all of a sudden, there is a puddle between his feet and the front of his pants are wet. He thinks his heart is going to stop because he cannot possibly imagine how this has happened. It's never happened before, and he knows that when the boys find out he will never hear the end of it. When the girls find out, they'll never speak to him again as long as he lives.

The boy believes his heart is going to stop; he puts his head down and prays this prayer, 'Dear God, this is an emergency! I need help now! Five minutes from now I'm dead meat.'

He looks up from his prayer and here comes the teacher with a look in her eyes that say he has been discovered.

As the teacher is walking toward him, a classmate named Susie is carrying a goldfish bowl that is filled with water. Susie trips in front of the teacher and inexplicably dumps the bowl of water in the boy's lap.

The boy pretends to be angry, but all the while is saying to himself, 'Thank you, Lord! Thank you, Lord!'

Now all of a sudden, instead of being the object of ridicule, the boy is the object of sympathy. The teacher rushes him downstairs and gives him gym shorts to put on while his pants dry out. All the other children are on their hands and knees cleaning up around his desk. The sympathy is wonderful. But as life would have it, the ridicule that should have been his has been transferred to someone else - Susie.

She tries to help, but they tell her to get out. You've done enough, you klutz!'

Finally, at the end of the day, as they are waiting for the bus, the boy walks over to Susie and whispers, 'You did that on purpose, didn't you?' Susie whispers back, 'I wet my pants once too.'

May God help us see the opportunities that are always around us to do good..

Remember.....Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car.

Each and everyone one of us is going through tough times right now, but God is getting ready to bless you in a way that only He can. Keep the faith.

This prayer is powerful, and prayer is one of the best gifts we receive. There is no cost but a lot of rewards. Let's continue to pray for one another.

The Prayer:

Father, I ask You to bless my friends, relatives and those that I care deeply for, who are reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of Your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit at this very moment. Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self-doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace. Where there is need, I ask you to fulfill their needs. Bless their homes, families, finances, their goings and their comings. Amen.

This song always moves me to tears especially when we sing it a capella after communion. I also enjoy this kind of background story. This rendition just brought back memories of college days when I used to sit in church, close my eyes and listen to this 'theo' boy sing! I didn't know him personally ... back then I moved with a totally different circle ... but, man! could he sing!!

Anyway, God bless you all and hoping you get a blessing from this. Listen and let it flow through your soul - may it lift you up 🙂 (((hugs all)))

*now I really need to go pack 'er up!*
