Awwww, come on, (((D))) - let it go. We're really trying hard to turn the tone of this thread. We are all aware of the ongoing feuds, but does it really have to continue in here. I try very hard not to take your digs at quasi-Christians personally, but sometimes, even if I know you mean "not all Christians" and just "some Christians" - the slams still really hurt - because these are all brothers and sisters. We don't go into the Pagan thread or the Hindu thread and start ridiculing the beliefs because they are based on some other book written by mankind.
I think it is important to study what people believe only in the context of WHY people believe in what they believe and NOT whether what people believe is true or false (or whether or not they walk the talk). Only the God of the universe can make that judgment.

Well as the old saying goes…”you can pick your friends but you can’t pick your relatives”. In my beliefs there are people who have twisted and manipulated beliefs for their agendas and other aspects such as power over others. I will never defend them and consider their actions an insult. Just because we believe ‘kind of’ the same thing, does not mean they get any dispensation.
We don't go into the Pagan thread or the Hindu thread and start ridiculing the beliefs because they are based on some other book written by mankind.
I never ridiculed anything. If you go wayyyyy back, it started with me asking a question or two, wanting clarification. Then I was given answers, but only based on certain aspects. When I still couldn’t accept it, that ticked a few people off and the rest is history. It boiled down to “this is why we are right….how dare you ask questions or dispute it….we are perfect and you are imperfect in our eyes and the eyes of the lord”!!! (I have NEVER said anyone was LESS of a person because of what they believe and never will) And there are two or three people who have in other threads of the past followed me and posted scripture which is solely for the purpose of condemning. Didn’t have anything to do with the subject matter of the thread…just popped in to take a stab. I have never posted anything that would advocate the destruction of anyone just because of their beliefs ….but it’s been done to me. The scripture may be 1300 years old but the message was loud and clear.
I don’t care what a person believes….as I’ve said many times ‘more power to you’, but when it comes to telling people they are the equivalent of “dust on their feet’ and ‘people should stay away from those who practice a certain religion’, and calling us that word associated with pork……(just to name a few things and not mentioning the bible scripture)…..that’s when I draw the line! I find this interesting from the point of view that if for instance someone posted, oh let’s say the beliefs of a group that are often seen wearing white sheets….people would go into the thread and be OUTRAGED!!! that things like this could be advocated. It would be reprehensible and hate speech. However, when someone says things to another person (mentioned in my previous post) only because of what they believe and someone else posts scripture which advocates mayhem on someone else because of what they believe….this is approved???

Nellie, your view is based on your religious scripture. Muslim’s views are based on their scripture. Hindus and other religions on theirs. We all have our beliefs but you say ”I do "look"…so without bantering around the bush I ask you this….
A/ Do you believe that others who do not believe as you do should be condemned for their beliefs and even to the point of ostracizing them, calling them ‘pork’ (I won’t justify the other word by mentioning it) and even suggesting the eradication of those people?
B/ Do you believe that those who do not believe as you do, are ANY less, in any way, shape or form, than the members of your belief?

Thankfully we have hate laws in Canada. Unfortunately however, they don’t extend far enough as of yet to include certain ancient books that have little proof in their words but yet are used by some as a tool for persecution. (especially when specific people dig through the pages with one purpose in mind….a way to condemn others) I suppose it will never happen…politicians are too worried about losing votes, their jobs, good incomes and life long pensions.
A few years back I sat down at a table with members of a group that find white sheets and hoods a good form of apparel and have this thing about lighting crosses. (I like to learn so I find out about people and beliefs directly from those people). I was shown a book called the bible. It was a red letter version and in it, there it was….absolute words which ‘could be used’ to back up their views against people of other races and that they are less than white people. I also got shown other verses to add to their views regarding other people. Hummmmm why haven’t I seen those words before? Well the book was from the late 1700’s and it seems that the bible has been translated and altered so many times for one reason or other (political correctness included) that those words just aren’t there anymore or have been …… pacified. So my point is…this group could not in Canada expound their hate and use this bible for their purposes. It seems in our country there are certain groups or minorities protected from hate speech no matter where it comes from. I guess it’s time we included another group and pointed out those who would use some ancient scripture to condemn and persecute others for something as simple as……not believing what they believe.
