I am, however, puzzled by this: https://www.canadapost.ca/web/en/comm/alert/list.page

Does this mean what they were saying all along as in there are unprecedented delays and we must simply hope for the best or does it mean delivery by Dec 24 is hopeless no matter what and all hope is lost?

Due to unprecedented backlogs, Canada Post has suspended its delivery standard guarantees for all products until further notice.

Perhaps it is time a criminal investigation was launched into a certain individual.

It is one thing to have labor groups similar to the Postal Union protest the back-to-work legislation.....  but... when a non-labor group becomes a part of the protest what is really happening and who is "inviting" this group to protest.

From one of the news articles.....

"In Ottawa on Monday, many of the protesters were from the Revolutionary Communist Party Ottawa branch and the International Workers of the World, a spokesman said."

I’m baffled, to be honest. If I was, for example, an avid, aggressive sports fan who held myself in high regard at a local rink or field, and management of that facility banned me for untoward and unruly behaviours, coming back with a few of my loud and rude friends to cause a deliberate, continuing ruckus would only reinforce the obvious fact I’d been banned from the place for good reason. It would only get me further from my goal to be allowed back. How is that lost on the person at the helm of this union? It defies logic to me.

Who doesn’t want to protest something? I’d love to really stick it to someone right now but getting swept up with an angry mob — or causing one — is merely a waste of my precious time and energy better spent strategizing a new approach because obviously the current tactics did not work.

Why would the average Canadian postal worker continue to put their faith in this leadership? Everywhere this conflict arises in media, I see about one commenter supporting CUPW for every 25 against. Canadians aren’t angry with their lettercarriers, they’re angry with the union brass who continues to lead them into a losing battle. Yelling doesn’t get you your way faster than being firm and sensible, it just hurts everyone’s ears.

And then to add insult to injury we get the notice about their rates increasing. Even though I know it comes every January somehow this time it really hit me wrong. Really- increasing your costs for services you cannot provide properly till possibly March & even that is looking unrealistic these days.

With all the new actions that are being taken I am sure that the union president has everything to do with it. Perhaps they should investigate & charge him. Seems to me that there was something about fines in the legislation.  Definitely not looking out for the best interests of the workers pulling this kind of **bleep**. I hope they start arresting all these additional protesters.

I am to the point I really don't know what to do about my business. I am afraid when I make a sale the parcel won't get there. I hardly have any listings left, only those that the price warranted tracked & insured but even that doesn't guarantee anything these days.  Raise your prices indeed, maybe you should be lowering them!

From the CUPW website..... A reference to CUPW's Negotiating Committee......

"While your Negotiating Committee is getting ready for the mediation phase outlined in the Act, Canada Post is packing up and leaving the hotel without even letting the Union know."

Could it be that Canada Post views all actions in relation activity in blocking the entry and exit of parcels from  a handling facility  .....

as a continuation of the postal strike.......

Members of the Postal Union may not participate...  However,  CUPW  promotes these activities on their website, and continues to support these activities.  When people are arrested the law is viewed as doing something wrong.

CUPW  might end up in a very difficult situation....  with what appears to be a continuation of the postal strike....

The back-to-work legislation is very specific  with the continuation of the "strike".

CUPW is walking on very thin ice

The fact CUPW is boasting about the activities makes the union complicit to my mind.

I am sure the union brass is behind all these additional actions one way or another. It really seems like a continuation of the strikes in my mind.  Makes you wonder how long it will take to get service back to any kind of normalcy.

Seems to me I recall that if mediation did not work (it hasn’t up to point) that there was something about binding arbitration. I think the government should just declare it an essential service, then if postal workers don’t like that they are unable to strike to get what they want, they can just go find someplace else to work.

I find that so funny how the "Revolutionary Communist Party Ottawa branch" was the one protesting this. Imagine if we actually lived in a communist society, those protestors would be beaten then sent back to work. Ohhh the irony here is amazing.

Actually they would likely be sent to a Gulag and never heard from again. I believe the forced work camps started under Lenin and reached their horrifying peak under Stalin. How anyone still believes in a political system so awful is mind boggling. They mostly don't even believe in it in Russia anymore.
