Took my packages to the PO today, since I had a present and a shipment that had to go Expedited.
Arrived as the PO truck did for the SECOND (at least) 3pm pickup. There was a truck leaving as I arrived.
I was number nine in line (two clerks- it's usually a quiet office) and then became number 10 when an entitled old bat in an electric scooter jumped the line, by driving up the ramp. The rest of us were below the steps.
Then she blocked the hall so the trucker couldn't get her trolley past her. That took some polite discussion.
Dropped my letterpost items into the box by the door, only to learn it was so full, the parcel part would no longer close.
Now I'm fifth in line and there are seven people behind me, down the sidewalk to the corner.
Finally got in, after less than 10 minutes wait, those are fast smart clerks!, spent less than two with them, including weighing DD's Instant Pot.
When I left the trucker was filling a third truck.
She told me on my last visit they have added a 5pm pickup to handle all the outgoing mail.
What an easy job those posties have eh?

Buying ... Yes... and then returns to Amazon.
Local postal outlet ... Southeast Winnipeg... lots of parcels ... more busy with each passing day.....

Our rural Nova Scotia post office said last week they were running low of stamps because of the huge increase in Christmas cards going out this year. There have been 3-5 people in line every time I've gone there this month, usually 0 or 1.

It's crazy.
We're getting Saturday AND Sunday delivery on our Rural Route out here, the post office is usually full up with lines as well when I go past (i have a daily pickup so no longer see them in the flesh...)
reminds me I should bring some coffee and snacks next time I'm by
