Justin Trudeau meets with hunger striking chief Theresa Spence
OTTAWA — Like many Canadians, Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence spent a quiet Christmas morning with her family, opening presents with two of her five daughters.
But far from her home on James Bay, Spence entered the third week of a hunger strike Tuesday, an action she says won’t end until Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Gov. Gen. David Johnston agree to sit down and talk about Canada’s treaty relationship with First Nations leadership.
She did have a visitor on Boxing Day, however, Liberal Leadership hopeful Justin Trudeau came by to meet with the First Nations leader.
“It was deeply moving to meet [Theresa Spence] today. She is willing to sacrifice everything for her people. She shouldn’t have to,” Trudeau wrote on twitter.

A nearly two-week long First Nation blockade of a railway line in Sarnia, Ont., was being dismantled Wednesday night
He will be so disappointed.
From their website:
''The Citizens of Aamjiwnaang First Nation wish to extend a warm invitation to you and welcome you to our community.''
I’m planning a Casino trip shortly so I could take Nu there to meet with the First Nations people.

The signed James Bay Treaty rule of the law starts at around the 16 minute mark.
It's best to get the real $$$ facts starting at about the 19 minute mark of the video.

The James Bay Treaty of over a hundred years ago was a scam. At the time many Natives couldn’t even speak English. It was like taking candy from a baby. Do you know what deal the government gave them?………4 dollars a year….per Native. After that the governments broke the treaty. So why should the Native people keep an agreement that was broken first by the government?
Do you know how many treaties made by governments in N. America were kept with the Native people?..........None.
Your concept of laws are based on ‘authorities’ making laws which benefit them and convincing people who were at the time ignorant of many things, to just do as they were told, or sign a paper that was at best convoluted. It would be like some shyster selling grandma and grandpa inferior siding or poor pavement for their driveway, only later to find out that they were cheated. Of course grandma and grandpa could take the company to court…..and fight …..which is exactly what the Native people are doing. The difference is…..grandma and grandpa are fighting a company and the judge is looking at the whole situation in a balanced perspective. The First Nations people however are fighting those who make the laws and the judges are on their side. Or let me put it to you and Levant another way…..it would be like Levant taking the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei to court to fight against the 400 decrees and regulations.

Well BB if you want to hear the true facts the Sun is where to go. The rest of the media is scared of their azz of being unpolitically correct. Ezra may stretch things a bit but it's quite clear Attawaspikat doesn't need more $$$. It's being squandered lining pockets while the general population suffer terribly.

I clicked on valve's post. The subscription to SNN is not available on MTS TV.
Update, Two are watching now. Seems the guy in the hospital dozed off.
Still funnin.
Sun does have a good sports page, the rest, oh well.

I think that was the look on his face when his Western Producer magazine went under.
Not positive but i think that was the name of his publication.

In all seriousness i believe the bands should be held accountable for the funds they are allotted, but lets also agree other individuals that are also living on government grants should also be held accountable.
Again lets include all racial groups.

They are all audited. Did you watch the four part discussion that I posted previously in one of these Native threads? It is explained in there (I forget which specific part).

"It's being squandered lining pockets while the general population suffer terribly."
An audit is an audit and when you have a good audit ........................... show me one from Attawaspikat that doesn't exhibit my previous statement in italics above.
Compassion for the sufferers seems to be lacking here.

I've changed my mind. I think all the other Liberal leadership aspirants should get together for a photo op with Chief Spence. Letting Justin the Compassionate steal the priceless PR limelight is an opportunity missed. Afterall, some Canadians support the Idle No More shenanigans. Hope my compassionate sentiments don't get misconstrued by anybody. Show solidarity for Idle No More today by eating clam chowder and blocking a rail line.

I believe Levant. Listen to him and learn.
Isn't it great that we are all allowed to voice our differing opinions without being ridiculed.
I would like to know how all these protestors, dancers and blockaders get so much time off work. I do know if I told my boss I wanted even one day off to participate in any of these activities I would be shown the door.
