Same story, different outlet with CUPW quoted as saying Canada Post is to blame for being unreasonable

The report in the Winnipeg Free Press makes no mention of what was said by Palecek.

Trudeau is ready to order back to work legislation, but only after one last set of negotiations.

Had an interesting conversation with the person at my local post office yesterday. I have known them for years and our relationship is excellent, so I believe what they told me. They said the majority of CUPW members really wanted to have a vote on the last offer. They thought Palecek was unreasonable and had too much power. Interesting to hear from someone on the inside.

Also they though the members would have accepted a deal if they had voted.

One gets the impression that CUPW has become more defensive..

Which will be way too late for this Christmas season anyway. Too little too late.

I haven’t lost hope.

I feel like there’s a very good chance the average real person postal worker (as opposed to union executive) will be happy to put all this unpleasantness behind them and return to work, take pride in that return to work, and bust-out the overtime putting their whole effort into clearing the backlog so they don’t feel like CUPW ruined Christmas.

I don’t think it’s too late... yet.

By the start of next week, yes. By the end of this week, I think we can still pull it off if everyone works together and morale is high.
